The issue I think, in part is a lot of those that wanted Hughes(I did not from day one)thought he would bring steel, and we would perform better in such matches. The facts are we are performing, weaker across the board but ironically perhaps more so in the away games that those people pointed to as would be his strength and on top of that going out of the both cups first attempt to teams from lower leagues(I don't recall the last time that happened in the same year).
Careful, the Stepford Wives will get you.

Is anything I have said unreasonable, or not based in fact?
No, but being negative about MH on here seems to invoke hysteria.

What's done is done. You can't move forward if you're always looking back.

but were not going forwards,we seem to spend long spells in neutral with short spells in reverse!

JJ,, good post,i agree wholeheartedly.
i think we're all so desperate for some success that it has created this win now or else mentality, which weve had for years now,but with the inclusion of so much money, the hughes debate, the press getting on our backs, alan fuckin green etc etc,it has hightened the feelin even more.
imo we need to take stock of what weve got and where we are.
the team is essentially new, promising manager, the best academy, plenty of money, still in uefa and i believe we have time to build a very good team/squad,maybe too late for success this season, but the prospects for the future are immense.

it just seems to me that this one result has had a massive impact on peoples opinions much more than that of the previous unbeaten run of games combined. There's just no perspective. If we win people still concentrate heavily on the faults (while some think we're brilliant again which is even worse) and if we lose it's Hughes out time again and we're going down. Ok, Saturday was another shit away performance where we really struggled to break Stoke down but although it may seem defeatist, didn't it seem slightly inevitable that we may struggle against this type of side? Add the fact that many sides have struggled at the britannia. You certainly can't fault the effort of the majority, it just wasn't our day (again). On the coach home on saturday a bloke said to me 'well united wouldve broke them down'. For fuck sake. I can see us going on a mini undefeated run (again) because we have good players, a good manager and eventually things will start to go right(ish). I understand the frustrations but please, perspective.

Oh yeah, and Hughes out ;)

Most people aren't getting carried away one way or another I don't think. The recent games have shown we are, on balance, mediocre. We will beat most sides below us at home and not win against pretty much everyone away from home.

The problem I have is that the game was in certain parts a carbon copy of the Newcastle game. Alright we got a second there against the ten men but for much of the game it was painful to watch us try and take advantage of the extra man. Our performances all season away from home, Sunderland potentially excepted, have been poor and there just doesn't seem to be anything to suggest they are going to get any better.

Typical of our mentality no confidence no positive thinking just accepting we're shit and thats that

I agree with you in the main warrington but there are regularly people saying we're in a relegation battle when we lose and are going for Europe again when we win. This relegation thing bugs me, both the press and our own fans say it when there's absolutely no chance that we are involved in it. I'm not sure if the press write it because they see us discussing it or we discuss it because we're influenced by the press, either way it's bullshit and something the shitty tabloids used as a stick to beat us with during the kaka negotiations. We're not that good but we're not that bad.
