Sorry sight to see and makes you wonder as a parent why you would buy that shirt, personally I’ll be doing everything that I can to avoid any endorsements or watching any of the games, can only see this taking over in a super league format, invitational league in the coming years.
And FIFA are already launching their own club World Cup with 32 teams in 2025 which I think will eventually become as prestigious as the Champions League. With a bit of common sense both these competitions should be able to co-exist. If the new FIFA club WC takes off I think FIFA will treat it as a priority tounament like the existing international World Cup and they may be sensible enough to reduce the number of meaningless international qualifying games. UEFA may also take the same approach with an enhanced European Champions League. So many international matches these days are totally absurd and have no commercial value for broadcasters. As you say a match between Boca and City or River Plate and Real Madrid would be huge globally.I'd rather watch City play Boca and River than England play Malta thats for sure.
