Saudi Pro League

How on earth have Fulham managed to get more than Mahrez and Laporte combined for that big fat Serbian pudding Mitrovic?
It is odd.

The only rational is that City wanted to off load Mahrez and Laporte and there's not many clubs out there who can afford their wages other than SA clubs. Where as Fulham probably wanted to keep hold of Mitrovic so the Saudi club put in a hefty bid.

I'm gutted to see Laporte leave, especially to a Saudi club.

If a Saudi team get a place in the champions league, America and Argentina will want the same along with some other countries too.
Then it may as well become a club world cup, which would then be under fifa and not uefa.
And that's why it won't happen.

Difference being nobody in MLS or Argentina has enough cash to grease the palms of UEFA so until that happens it will just be Saudi.

Seen the first kid wearing a Saudi team (Ronaldo) football strip.
Sorry sight to see and makes you wonder as a parent why you would buy that shirt, personally I’ll be doing everything that I can to avoid any endorsements or watching any of the games, can only see this taking over in a super league format, invitational league in the coming years.

I’m interested in how it goes over there,I have no interest in watching any of it but let’s see how it is in the second season,as in with them signing more players or on the other hand some may be looking to get back to Europe ..

And FIFA are already launching their own club World Cup with 32 teams in 2025 which I think will eventually become as prestigious as the Champions League. With a bit of common sense both these competitions should be able to co-exist. They would be much more entertaining than most of the meaningless international matches we have to endure.

I'd rather watch City play Boca and River than England play Malta thats for sure.

If the new FIFA club WC takes off I think FIFA will treat it as a priority tounament like the existing international World Cup and they may be sensible enough to reduce the number of meaningless international qualifying games. UEFA may also take the same approach with an enhanced European Champions League. So many international matches these days are totally absurd and have no commercial value for broadcasters. As you say a match between Boca and City or River Plate and Real Madrid would be huge globally.
