We have the Alty Fan to thank for his stay of execution, clearly denying Newcastle a blatant penalty. Maureeens whole posture and presence shows a totally broken man waiting to be fed to the dogs. He would have resigned a long time ago other than for the £30 million compensation package that will certainly help him through the recovery stage.

Only problem is there is an international break now. Going to have to put up with two weeks of "United are back" whereas if there was a game in a few days the further meltdown would be incredible.

Give it four or five weeks and the meltdown might be back. They've got us, Chelsea and Juve twice in their next five games.

I desperately want him to hang on until the new year (coming after an utter shambles over Xmas where they lose 5 games).
Ideally they will be around mid table by then, so potential to drop further, and be forced to get a good but not great coach.

Unfortunately the only thing that is delaying PEG's demise is his agent sorting out the settlement on PEG's contract , the Rags dont want to pay the full £29m on top of Carlton and the Piano player it will cost them nearly £200m to get them all off the wage bill , the duelling banjo Glazers wont be happy.

Could be right but 29m is a good return if the new guy gets them a top 4 finish which if they failed would cost them around 100m in prize money, gate receipts, sponsorship and merchandising.
Failure to make top 6 - add 30m more.
