Save Our Peg

This thread is fucking sickening and anyone who wants united to win for this reason wants to take a good look at themselves. 3 wins and a lucky Chelsea last min goal stopping it being 4 on the bounce. Great.....

I agree, MAV.

Even to joke in a positive way about the rags winning goes completely against the grain, as far as I am concerned.

I don’t even want the scummy bastards to win a throw-in.

Scuppered by Woodward... bereft of political savvy when interacting with the press, upper management and lately his squad... apparently in a battle for 5th/6th in the league... playing a style of football admired by none, save perhaps if it were wining the league and only then by die hard ManU fans...

Mou is a dead man walking. Just as soon as a reasonably capable alternative who is willing to "manage" ManU becomes available accompanied by any excuse whatsoever to sack Peg (he's bought himself a bit of slack with recent performances - that will soon evaporate) - or, if ManU experience a streak of dropped points... the Pegster is out.

On the bright side... Peg isn't the main problem at ManU. Peg's departure will likely result in an even worse squad once the inevitable new manager bump wears off.

This thread is tongue-in-cheek - in other words, ironic. No one really wishes Mourinho well.

Yet - in terms of Mourinho holding back United from success (which does have some merit) - well, then, this is what the thread is about. Don't take any post seriously.

For me, United's main problem is that it is owned by the Glazers - Americans (I'm from the USA so don't take this as disparaging) - who, from all appearances, mostly want to see a profit from their investment and who, probably, have little knowledge of the game.

They've appointed Ed Woodward as executive vice chairman of the club - sans the title mumbo-jumbo - Woodward basically has control of the club's operations.

Woodward is apparently a marketing/deal-making/financial genius, somehow convincing Chevrolet to sign a massive 600 million dollar sponsorship agreement just to get their logo on the front of United's shirts (how on earth this occurred is beyond me as England, yet alone Europe, isn't a big market for Chevrolet at all; moreover the deal ran counter to other Chevrolet interests).

At the same time, Woodward hasn't displayed any savvy whatsoever in choosing club personnel - from manager to player. It's been a total mess.

Woodward likely isn't going anywhere soon - and the more he puts his finger on United's signings, the more the club seems to suffer.

So for me, United's problems are as follows:
1) Ownership;
2) Woodward;
3) See 1 and 2 above.

I think United are doomed for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, the "Save our Peg" thread provides a bit of frivolous, tongue-in-cheek entertainment.

Most likely this thread is going to die at year's end, as United fail to win any trophy and finish outside the top 4 in the P/L. At which point (if not sooner), our hero Peg, will be sacked.
