It's odd how they were definitely showing a fighting spirit we hadn't seen before from them. But I think that is mostly because they were playing the occasion more than the game.
It had been predicted by almost everybody that they were going to take an absolute battering, double figures and all that. But they were like the underdogs in a cup tie and surprised everybody with their passion and never-say-die attitude.
However, I cannot see it lasting. They have been a truly dreadful team for many years and that doesn't change with one game. It's still the same players, still the apparent unrest within the squad, and the uncertainty of this new man and the direction he is taking them.
Also, the dippers weren't at their best yesterday, and with Trent's woefully inept performance they were pretty much down to 10 men.
