Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

The blockage at Board level was obviously only about money then or Levy wouldn’t have come back
It was only ever about money in my opinion.
The brinksmanship was only ever about teaching Levy a lesson.

'You want? You pay!'
'But you pay what we want!'

They may not pay up and move on to other targets, but Frank wants reinforcements and Levy is in a dangerous position.

He's unpopular with fans.
He sacked Postecoglou (fair enough considering the league position, I suppose) after winning the Europa League and getting CL as a result.

Now he has to back his new manager.
I get the impression Thomas is indeed very 'frank' and will call out his chairman if he's not backed!

Savinhos team would never accept it as they would lose a signing on fee and increased salary for their player but it would be great if we could loan him to Madrid and Rodrygo is loaned here.

Imagine Levy.

Have to accept that crazy money for the player!

Also I think Rodrigo is a bit of a dembele situation where he's got bags of potential just needs to turn his career round with the right project can't see how guardiola wouldn't get the best out of him! Streets ahead of savinho potential wise

The first problem with this is that although Savinho has not delivered yet, he might. I feel he's like superman, one day he might work out how to go from Clark Kent to Superman.

The second problem is that this leads to Rodrygo and Rodrygo is Savinho 2 without the Superman upside.

I don't know if they wanted Savinho and Eze but I would have thought they were looking at one further attacking player and Eze was the better option until Arsenal came and stole that one. Spurs are now desperate so willing to pay a bit more for Savio, but we should jump on that and hold out for more!

I'm intrigued to see how City deal with Levy. Looks like Spurs are the only club in the running, which is a shame. As you say, I want this deal to be as difficult for Levy as possible, and we should include a buy back clause. If Savinho can add goals to his game, he'll be unstoppable.

From a City perspective, I know we've been linked with Rodrygo. Not entirely sure where he would fit in to be honest. But selling Savinho and not bringing someone else in would feel like we've weekend ourselves unnecessarily, even if the fee is decent.
When negotiating with that twat Levy, we need to tell him the same as what other clubs say - that we're not selling until we get a replacement lined up. That in itself isn't a lie because, as you say, we'll weaken ourselves by selling him.

Not denying it's good money and the deal probably gets done if he wants out but I do think there's a lot more to come from him, and their manager might be able to unlock that. In that sense, it could bite us on the arse a bit but on the positive side it could also help them take points off some of our direct rivals too

When I bought my house in a sort of auction many years ago, my Dad told me 'just offer another £10k to secure it', he said in the long term it would be 'chicken feed'. I did and it proved the best decision ever.

If Savio is indeed the real deal, like Palmer, an extra £10-£20m will seem chicken feed for Levy and Spurs, the way top quality player values are increasing.

Savio did look the real deal at Girona, he showed glimpses again last year? He could work out better than Rodrygo? I would hate to do Spurs a favour and personally I would be happy to keep Savio if he shows the right attitude and doesn't sulk?

Doku is getting his 3rd year with us as a young player to improve! Savino had 1 year which was ok year seeing it was our worse season under pep, I do feel there will be a lot of improvements if giving the time. I’ve said it before on the left he will get more output.
The difference is that Spurs have made a derisory bid of €50m & by the sounds of it, got the nod that Savio is interested from his agent. Had similar happened to Doku then I imagine we would be in a similar situation. I would say that only Haaland & Rodri are not for sale & every other player has a transfer valuation if they want out

Rodrygo is 24 so there's plenty of time for him to improve. He already has 2 CL's under his belt and has scored 25 goals in the competition in 60 odd games. We could sit and wait for Savinho to maybe become the player we need him to be, or we can cash in for big money and potentially bring in someone who has already delivered on the big occasion consistently.

It doesn't concern me what he's been like in La Liga. A big game for City in the PL or CL and he starts for us. Quick, direct, hard working. He'll thrive under our coaching staff.

£70m-ish, if that's true, that's at a figure where we let him go. Not convinced Pep wants him back in the squad training to be honest.
