Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Hard to NOT see City taking that deal (€80M), esp given we are struggling with squad size and we have cover.

He threatens to be a world beater, but he isn’t…yet! That’s a big price to pay for a maybe, but Spurs and Frank are desperate to not make Ange’s sacking look like a big mistake. No silverware this season for Spurs and Ange will be able to point and say, “See, not so easy, is it!!”

City have the cover on the wings at present, so it feels like a deal that could be made IF City want the money. I think they will. This is becoming an increasingly big business and the squad will REQUIRE another significant refresh next season, so bank it and start scouting for the talent today.

We have enough young CBs, we'll need another midfielder or two, dunno about forward positions. So, the expected refresh might not be significant.

A goalie, if Ederson stays, and 1-2 midfielders.

Nypan and Echeverri might be back, though, so 1 top midfielder will be needed to replace Bernardo. O'Reilly will expect more minutes as well.

We have more than enough cover. We don't need to buy someone else.

Bobb cant play every week though and Doku is hot and cold? Cherki is better inside imo so to avoid any burn out again going forward it would be silly to not replace one in and one out and build a world class squad? Arsenal arent worrying about what happens when Havertz and Jesus come back are they?

This'll get done after the registration deadline at midday tomorrow, IMO.

Like that we get it done, but he can't play against us (no effing way we're turning down the best part of £70m).
Do you seriously, and like others have said, that we don`t want this to happen until after am tomorrow (Fri) as it stops him from playing against us ?
Seriously, they are never ever likely to play someone who will NOT have had his medical nor even trained with his new team mates and you expect him to be picked.
Deluded, as are all the others who think this.

I've been thinking the same every time I read this. Saturday's game will obviously not be a factor in this decision. He wouldn't play regardless.

Do you ever stop wanting new toys Richards? I guess with all those kids….

Honestly I'd say Rodrygo today is a better goal threat and obviously brings some winning mentality. Savinho probably has a higher ceiling long term and is more creative.

I'd happily take one or the other. If Savinho's desperate to go we can't do much better than Rodrygo as a replacement. But I wouldn't force Sav out to achieve it.

If we don't replace Sav I think itll be disaster. We need more attackers not less, the problems of last season aren't solved by having 12 CMs and CBs.
I completely agree.

Looks like Savio is the one who wants the deal to happen, so we have to react. Rodrygo more of a goal threat and experienced at the highest level.

For me it helps as well we have several young players with bags of potential.

If Ake leaves for Everton do a swap deal for Van Der Ven
He misses games like John Stones. He missed 32 games last season. Was out for 134 days. Missed 16 games the season prior. Out for 76 days. Missed 18 games the season before that. Out for 122 days.

Why on earth would we want another super injury prone defender when Reis and Bah are coming back.

Yeah does he want guaranteed minutes, pay rise, just an arm around the shoulder from Pep?

Who knows i suspect we'll only find out how truly keen he is to leave if he makes a bigger fuss (which by all accounts he hasn't and doesn't want to) or spurs hit our valuation.

The whole scenario ending with him staying and getting a new deal in the season wouldn't shock me.

It`s not toys, its about improving and being successful? I know the old crew are happy now but luckily enough we are owned by winners who want to keep winning and not be someone who is just happy to have been alive to see us win everything? They dont write seasons off, they dont want to bed players in for a season and Viana will want success in his first season as DOF? Its a mindset between winners and losers that makes the difference and Khaldoon is trying to grow a legacy winning brand for generations to come?

The only upsides I see of Rodrygo coming

He’d be a ready made player. With the ability to hit the ground running. Those type of signings hit like crack. Haven’t had that since Haaland, Gvardiol, Dias, Reinjders now etc none of this slow burn project players that will possibly come good in 3 years.

Pep can turn players into monsters like he did with Haaland and KDB. It would interesting to see Rodrygo exceed his potential here.

I just wish someone could explain to me how it works on paper. Especially with a Rodri less midfield. Long term wise. Would Marmoush not just force a move away. Even if Doku doesn’t reach his potential it’s like having two superstars in one position. I know we did it with Mahrez but Sane left shortly after. If the team somehow maintains its balance then great. But I personally don’t see how any team can beat our front 4 with Foden Cherki Haaland Marmoush.

Have we not replaced him with Bobb who is like a new signing

Still don't think 2 wingers is enough tbf, and we have to account for afcon and injuries too which don't look great for foden and bobb, so I think we look light up front without Sav / Rodrygo.
Dont disagree but was just pointing out that Bobb can play both roles either coming inside or going on the outside....I think he can also play the 10 role which Sav can not.

I also think we do need another wide player if Sav goes and that is clearly that we will at least try for Rodrygo.....outside of that I dont see who else we could get/is available.
