I wonder why he didnt go then haIt is not like they ever made an actual offer either, by all accounts.

i think there are always some great players on the market for big bucks. Was there one on the market ?
What would we have done with the £60m? I think we are better off with him if there was no one significantly better to replace him.
He’s not even 22 anyway.
He’s only recently turned 21, and was 20 for the majority of last season (birthday in April) - which is the form people are evaluating him on, given he hasn’t actually played for us this season yet.
I actually probably would have sold him for the prices mentioned, just because I'm not sure I see him reaching a first choice pick in an all conquering team, which is the standard we aim for.28 G/A and assists before turning 21 in 2 seasons in the PL and La Liga.
The exact profile of a guy you don't sell.
It’ll be on him, not on Pep. If he plays well, he’ll be in the team. If he’d been at Spuds and played shite, he’d have been out of the team.if he doesnt make WC squad it will crush him and will blame Pep. to make it he needs to play regularly and pay well and deliver consistently so its up to him as its not like he needs to fight vs prime wingers at City sadly. we have an inconsistent Doku, Bobb who is talented but overhyped currently, and Marmoush who aint really a winger and looks great one match and odd and not capable technically the next...
if Savinho cannot be a regular vs this competition then he does not deserve WC squad when the competition there is Raphinha, Rodrygo, Vinicius, Richarlison (who is liked by Ancelotti for some reason), and others like Estevao, Martinelli,Luiz Enrique, and the likes of Joao Pedro, Cunha who can be turned into a winger or inverted winger if really needed. (kind of like we do with Marmoush)
he also needs to stop being injured. if he is injured every two months he wont be able to get going and build form.
so its quite packed for Brazil in wide roles and not all above names will be selected either and some may be as forward rather than winger.
its a big season for him, lets hope its a breakthrough one. second season usually better for City signings than first ones. patience is running out more with Doku is starting his third now.
Main issue is. We don’t have an all conquering team and in the time it takes to get back there, a few of our younger signings may well have the making of being a part of one. Savinho fits the profile and we should be pushing our work into making him so.I actually probably would have sold him for the prices mentioned, just because I'm not sure I see him reaching a first choice pick in an all conquering team, which is the standard we aim for.
But I also think we need to temper our expectations of young players like him, his talent is obvious, but his performances erratic. If we want young players in the team, it's something you have to accept. The likes of Yamal are freaks, outliers. Most players need time and patience to reach consistency at the top level.
In his first club interview after he arrived, when pushed on the matter, Savinho said he prefers playing on the right, but is happy to play left or centrally which he's done previously. He got his preference...Maybe he's just not an inverted winger and needs to play on the left
I thought he was more effective for the team on the left, pace and control going past players and using his good foot for crossing. In his first club interview after he arrived, when pushed on the matter, Savinho said he prefers playing on the right, but is happy to play left or centrally which he's done previously. Most people are thinking of the position he played & excelled at Girona. He himself said if forced to choose, he'd play on the right & he got his wish.I thought he was more effective for the team on the left, pace and control going past players and using his good foot for crossing.
It may have been his wish but he looks way better on the left, especially when taking on players on the outside. Most people are thinking of the position he played & excelled at Girona. He himself said if forced to choose, he'd play on the right & he got his wish.
I've not seen enough of him on the left to give an honest assessment tbhIt may have been his wish but he looks way better on the left, especially when taking on players on the outside.
I agree but I'll add this to the many areas that confuse me concerning City at the moment, however the footy inductry isn't my profession so I'll need to trust our expertsI've not seen enough of him on the left to give an honest assessment tbh
The bigger areas of concern for our wingers is their lack of support from the fullbacks, not their induvidual quality. They're constantly being left isolated & outnumbered. It doesn't surprise me one jot that they're struggling to be effective.I agree but I'll add this to the many areas that confuse me concerning City at the moment, however the footy inductry isn't my profession so I'll need to trust our experts

Another issue is Marmoush. He's NOT a winger. Against Brighton, he started on the left but gravitated inside to support Haaland, with Ait Nouri providing the width. This meant it was Ait Nouri left isolated on the left, offensively & defensively.
Our current tactics are a mess, confusing & certainly not working.
