Savinho extends his contract to 2031

Predicted this would happen. It’s just a bit of pr management and to give savinho a pay rise to get him more aligned with the rest of the squad.

Contracts don’t really mean much so just protecting his value.

Win all round really

Always on the cards. If you value someone 60mil+ you can’t keep him on the wages of a 20mil player

It’s going to go one way or the other - he improves over the next few months and we don’t look back or he stays at the same level and we hope someone comes in for him in the next 12-18 months
Did/do we value him at £60m+?

Sorry to be a negative nellie, but he's done nothing so far to suggest he's even close to a £60m player. I'd love to see him become one and clearly those at the club who know a lot more than I do feel he can do. Let's hope he does; but based on what we've seen on the pitch so far, I'm not convinced.

Why?

He hasn't done enough to earn an extension and no doubt a pay rise.

He needs to improve a lot to warrant it, maybe he will but in all honesty, we should have taken the Spuds money.
Spurs being interested in tripling his wages and paying 70 odd million for him is quite literally enough to warrant an extension if the club rates him. And thankfully we aren't run by emotional fans with blue tinted glasses that cant seperate 20 year olds from senior players or is influenced by twitter rumors. And rather makes decisions based on what he has shown in two top leagues now despite his age and his not fully developed game and physicality

Top post, squire. You get it. You understand.

Couldn't be a more 'meh' reaction from what I've seen of him. He's done little to make me think he'll be anything but yet another player on the outside of the core unit of players and will get loaned out before the start of next season.

Of course, hope I'm wrong, after all Reijnders looked like he could be the player of the season at Wolves and he just can't seem to make a good choice of final ball at the moment.

Needs to step his game up massively for me.

Can understand why they want him to stay based on potential, but doesn't do enough for me.

I assume he was on very low wages because he's done nothing on the pitch in 1+ season to earn an extension.

Hopefully a get away from the touchline clause has been inputted to this new contract. Lacks the heart and desire I want to see in a so called top talent.

Honestly I was up for the Rodrygo 'swap' but I'm well happy with this

Hopefully some fans will get off his back for a bit (doubtful)

I think City value him at that given the bids that were rumoured to have been rejected in the summer.

Outside of that, there is no real justification for a new deal. For example I don’t think anyone was saying Doku should have had a new deal after year 1? I think that’s probably the best parallel although not perfect

Either way, he needs to pull his finger out. He’s one got 1 league goal since he’s been here, that was in December against a team that is currently in the Championship. Nowhere near enough

He's a very talented kid no doubt about it, needs to toughen up though if he's going to make it in the premier league.

He was under contract and hasn't shown enough to warrant a huge extension.

Strange time to do it when he looked to be out of the door.

If he shows enough this season then offer extension in the summer.

When the chips are down for us he disappears.

Big improvement needed to warrant the extension.

Just had to check his stats,

21 years of age

32 appearance over the last 2 seasons

1 goal.

1 goal in 32 as an attacking winger is pretty poor by anyone's standards.

From an asset value perspective it makes sense.

He's got a long way to go to prove he's worth it though.

Hopefully he kicks on and gets near to his Girona form.
