Scafell Pike

For just a day out used to drive to the bottom of Borrowdale and park up there. Then head up Seathwaite Fell past Sprinkling Tarn towards Great End, bear left over the shoulder, look to your right for a great view of Great Gable, and then pick up the footpath for Scafell Pike. Some stoney ground ahead better when there's snow on top some great sledging slopes on your plastic bivvy bag.A long but excellent day.Assuming you can read a map.

Thanks chaps. Going up with the lad so Wasdale and up by Lingmel sounds the better bet for the first time. Not sure whether just to drop back down again or then come back down via Esk Hause/ Sty Head and drop into the Wasdale Head Inn for some home brew!

This route, probably the best scenery in the lake district and if you go midweek you probably wont see a soul until the peak.
