Scammers

City charging £35 for a membership before you can even buy a ticket is a scam.

This really pisses me off.
First game of the season, that'll be £190 for the two of you thank you. No ta.

That's sounds absolutely crazy! Propper shady shit. Not even sure I can get my head around it. How isn't it identity theft if your address is the one that the debt letters would come to? And some bank account must be "paying" for it in some way.

You kept the washing machine or sold it? ;)
It's still in my garage. Freemans don't seem to want it back.

Does sound like identity theft. Name & Address are simple to obtain. And when setting up they can enter any mobile number. There appears to be more of your wife's identify known/copied though - passport/driving licence/online utility bill account, to help them continue using your wife's name and address, without any issues.

Has she uploaded a copy of anything like that for legitimate purposes in the past 6 months? The device used to upload from could be compromised, or an email link provided was a scam.

What about her eMail address/password, is the account protected by 2FA/MFA? Can you check when/where the email is accessed (depends on eMail provider), you might find that that is compromised - email rules could be added to route email to a 3rd party email address, without it appearing in the Inbox.
If she reuses passwords, then she needs to be sure that her eMail account's one is completely unique, and never related to anything else. It is the most important password you have

I'm in 22 breaches, most recent are just accumulations of past hacked data. But I'm apparently in a recent (2024) French citizens breach... which I'm unsure how came about!
The police think they may have simply got her details by going through our bin. Apparently, the exact same thing happened with the iPhone to another woman in our street the same week. She didn't hand it over either. The person from the Sky fraud team said it happens 2 dozen times a week!

Not a Scammer but felt like good ole blackmail.

A stay cat has been in our garden for a 3/4 weeks. living in an outside cat house of ours. we have posted on FB and I'd put up posters trying to locate the owner.

I just had a call from a blocked number saying they had seen my poster and found my cat and saying about kill it. I Hung up in a sweary fury before they could get to asking for cash to keep it alive. Kinda regretting not having a cooler head and asking for there bank details to do a money transfer.... id seen the cat a few mins before so cant see them actually having found it.

Might be worth having a word with your bank to make sure it's not had an impact on your credit rating.
She's been onto Experian and it's now sorted. Her credit rating did initially take a hammering. She is also registered on some system where if anybody applies for credit in her name it flags up and they have to contact her.

That's better than it used to be. The last time I was back in the UK when City had a home game, you couldn't even view which seats were available without first paying for a membership. Thankfully now they seem to have changed that. But yeah, if you're only going to one game every now and then, it really adds to the cost.
