Scandinavian Crime series

Bet you're a riot at parties urmston. I'm not a huge TV watcher normally but these are brilliantly written, acted, produced and are gripping watching.

As I alluded to in my post, if they go to the trouble of making English speaking remakes of shows, they cant be too shabby, and all of the 3 remakes were almost as good as the originals. Some people just love to hate and be contrary, I feel sorry for them that they cant enjoy life and feel the need to denigrate other's enjoyment, like it makes them somehow superior. Trolls gotta troll.

Sssshhhh. Do not tell anybody but I agree 100% with you on the Scandinavian series plus the Icelandic 'Trapped' plus the two French 'Spin' series which have just dropped off the Channel 4 replay means.

I agree with this, enjoyed the Scandinavian stuff, loads of decent authors out there too who have written good stories with Wallender probably being the most famous.
Arnaldur Indridason, Yrsa Sigurdardottir, Camilla Lackberg, Asa Larsson, Lars Olsen, Karin Wahlberg and Jo Nesbo are all pretty good.

Not tried one before, but I'm watching Follow the Money. It's pretty good, definitely a cut above the British crime drama that I've sampled in recent years. For some reason acting on British TV seems really poor these days. I lasted about half an hour of Line Of Duty, slightly longer than I did with that Sarah Lancashire series.

I have to include The Night Manager in that - it's very tense, and Hugh Laurie and Tom Hollander are (were) great...but the rest of the cast are plain awful. Hiddlestone just smiles emptily - he wouldn't convince anyone (same with the girlfriend). Olivia Colman is about as intense as a pint of skimmed milk. The 'American' agent's accent was profoundly cringeworthy, and the MI5 guy had all the menace of a 10 year old public-schoolboy (and a weedy one at that).

Borgen. Watched & brilliant.

Watching Occupied & enjoying every minute of it.

Not seen "follow the money". Recorded but not seen yet.

The Killing is a hot topic of conversation at work which I fully intend to catch up on.

I was intrigued by that pairing.

They went to Abu Dhabi last night. It was the worst part of the series so far.

The corrupt MD of this Danish energy firm sells a stake in his firm to an Abu Dhabi invester for several hundred million, on the basis of a supposedly 'groundbreaking' superconductor - after clinching the deal with a 'demonstration' which was the exact same "dry-iced magnet/conductor that hovers over and runs round a track" trick that Steven Fry did in QI a couple of seasons ago. The whole thing was about as realistic as going on Dragon's den, showing one of those clocks that runs on a potato, and walking away with a million quid. If you were the sensitive type, you could even call it racist.
