Scared of dying

I'm pretty sure the Buddhists have got it figured out. Life carries on after death. Reincarnation. The spirit/soul/life force/energy that makes you, you carries on. Once the physical body dies you can just pick up a new one. Seems totally logical.
Buddhists try to break free of continuous rebirth by gaining enlightenment.

Last point though is that the brain is an odd thing, it is still a mystery to science even now, no one knows why we dream or why they can be so strange or vivid.

So wouldn't discount anything for sure, I just take comfort in that I won't "know" I'm dead unless I "live on", so it's a win-win scenario for me!

I think it's the oddest fear ever as we are all going to die, we are all in the same boat. I think when it becomes more of a reality then it will become a bit scary, but I think by then hopefully it would have sunk in more.

That's it, no more afterlife, no floating in some fluffy clouds like a book of fiction tells you, you are born, you die, you add to the co2 problem, you rot/burn, who gives a shite!!

Discovering your own mortality is all part of living mate. I am incredibly sorry for your loss, but the only positive you could have taken from the experience you seem to have done, that shows maturity beyond your years and I doubt i could have done that.

You will die sometime this is a fact. Try to enjoy your time here regardless of if you go to anywhere else afterwards or not. That is the only thing this old fogie can pass on

When I was about six or seven I remember crying every night for about a month thinking about it. I was too young to realise you won't be aware of it anyway. About ten years later I was close to death and was expecting it, but I wasn't scared (I was a little out of it TBF)
