what am hoping for tonight is a manchester city side to now show europe we are here and can win this competition, forget all the shit about money and buying players it take much more than just hand picking player and getting them to gel and be winners?? lots and lots of hard work has gone into this city squad and we are together a tight bunch of players good enough to play and win at the table of so called giants of the game

Sounds strange, but tonight City have more Schalke and Ruhrpott background in Gündogan and Sané
than the complete current Schalke squad, is what German outlets come up with.

Gündogan is Gelsenkirchen born and raised, although watching Turkish football in contrast to all his mates being Schalke fans,
watched his 1st football match home at Schalke's old Parkstadion (now newly built Veltins Arena),
joined Schalke 04 as an 8yo kid, was sorted out being 9 for growth related problems
and he didn't forgive Schalke when they tried to sign him later in his career.
He joined rivals Dortmund instead, where he lost the CL final 2013 under Klopp.

Leroy, born in Essen, raised in Bochum-Wattenscheid, finished the Schalke football academy (like Neuer, Ozil, Draxler, Max Meyer).

Both of them could go home tonight on a bike to the place where they've grown up.
