Agreed, I watch a lot of rugby and the var system is over used in my opinion. Also, just as they tried last night with our goal, how far back does the review go, that is still a grey area even after a few years of review.

Yes, they do over use it in rugby don’t they? Seems to get used automatically now, whether there is a need or not

Indeed. Great minds and all that. Though I disagree with the 1st penalty. If that was a pen, the rules have been changed and nobody told us.
The word for word rules were spouted out by Walton at the end, they interpret the rules as he had enough time to move his hand out of the way. The fact that people are debating it still, even after seeing the video, IMO shows its not such a bad decision so we can't really blame anyone other than ourselves in the phase just before that.

We were playing away, on a pitch that looked like the football scene from Kes, against a bunch of hoofers with all the finesse and physicality of a Colin Wanker team, with a Betamax VAR and a referee out of his depth, we conceded two penalties and had a man sent off.

And we still won 3-2

If we were scousers we'd be writing poems about it, though I'm struggling to find a rhyme for Gelsenkirchen.
Betamax VAR - love it

They do, but what I like about it is the var ref also goes to referee and says you might want to check your decision having clearly seen something. No fuss from players, all audible and on full stadium screen.
Footballs version will only create conspiracy theory. Perhaps football betting in the Far East is bigger than we think

Well in my opinion it’s a shocking decision. The only debate is how, with the supposed benefit of VAR they have arrived at the conclusion of deliberate handball.

Great result. Well done for beating the corruption city.
Nightmare getting back. Wheelchair battery was low and could i find a plug, ended in in the first aid room at the stadium to give it a blast. Wasnt enough and because i couldnt get over the footbridge (like feyenoord ) had to travel up the line for a mile. Battery now shit we had to take refuge in the Marriott. By the time there was enough charge the trams had stopped running. Ok grab a beer and work out what to do. No taxi could fit us in with a chair. Eventually got one from a dussledorf firm. 40 euros to gelsenkirchen.,bargain when your are stranded. Train to duss is at 3.09, well except the only lift out of order is ours to the platform. SoS a train guy and he sorts it. At dussledorf battery packs so kbb has to push me a mile, poor bugger and a legend. Me wife and grandson got to bed around. 5 am.
I love you City but you are pushing it now .

Not really you're not :)

I think it’s more to do with the fear that football fans couldn’t handle any controversy, and wouldn’t accept it in the way rugby fans do, without resorting to uproar, violence etc. Sadly.

Might be paranoia but it looked for our first goal that Schalke were demanding a review and the officials gave in and were looking for an excuse to rule it out. Ian Darke on BT was clutching at straws - hoping it would be chalked off

Exactly, so thumbing your nose at them (Uefa, EU, Spain) during games is a poor tactic. And why does Pep keep saying we are not ready to challenge for this title?
I agree with him.

He obviously thinks that we are not 'cute' enough to win the European Cup.

We are way too naive and nice and nowhere near good enough at the dark arts that would be required.

Could do with a Godin, Costa, Ramos, Busquets, Chiellini etc. You know the type.

Ederson is our nearest, and he's stuck between the sticks.
I reckon he also wants to defuse all this quad talk.

Think we're good for a domestic double though, which will be delightful

Pep has a blind spot regarding gundogan for me Foden should be getting half of the games Gundogans getting Foden has proved he gets a game by the scruff of the neck and di something Gundogan doesnt he keeps it safe far to often which when your on top of a game is fine! Him and kdb gave the ball away far to often.

I’ve noticed over recent years in Rugby League that the refs have tightened up their interpretation of interference / obstruction so that only clear infringement deny a try. A few years ago the officials were going back many phases and awarding a penalty for the merest hint of a foul. A good example is Leeds Rhinos behind denied what would probably been a match winning try against Wigan at the Magic Weekend at the Etihad.

I like Phil but he isn’t fit to polish Gundogan’s boots at the moment. In time Phil should be a better player than Gundo.

KDB was very disappointing last night. His pocket was picked twice that led to both their goals and he just didnt have ihs normal drive and precision passing.
Though fit he clearly needs games to reach full efficiency and his rotation out of the side of late hasn't helped him in this respect at all.

Agree he needs to keep it simple till he is back up to speed.

Dark arts would not work as ref would pull us up.
We are a fairly young honest team doing it the right way. If that means no CL title so be it. I would hate to see us diving around being dirty bastards to gain an advantage
