James Milner's best position is defensive midfield. He is not a winger! He will be Barry's long term replacement as he gets older. In a good few games this season Milner was excellent in DM. He lasts longer than Parker does who seems to run out of steam by about the 65-70minute mark.
Barry is not world class but he is miles better than "Scotty". Milner will give you box-to-box work rate for 95minutes at the same intensity with some good attacking link-up play too; "Scotty" will give you box to half way line work rate for 70minutes, will sit on the floor when he needs a rest and pull his socks up and gives the impression to everyone that he's working really hard (which he is, fair play to him) but he's not fit enough to last and goes missing in crucial parts of games.
What Parker gives you for an hour can be very good - he is a good player, I don't think any of us are calling him shit. What I'd probably like to see is Parker off after 65minutes, push Milner inside to DM (he should never be in the wing anyway!) and get Walcott on. Parker will have done a good job - albeit with no influence on play in the opposition last third - but let's see something else towards the end.
