Scott Sinclair – Manchester City winger
Newcastle are said to be readying a £5M bid for the skilled Englishman, and that may be enough to convince City to sell, although West Brom are also said to be after the 24 year-old.
But Newcastle could be in the driver’s seat, since West Brom are only offering a loan deal, and Manchester City and the player himself want a permanent move.
If this news is true, then Newcastle could well be successful, and we think Scott would be a good acquisition for Newcastle, although it would probably mean the club would give up on 21 year-old winger Tom Ince of Blackpool.
One advantage Sinclair has over Ince, in addition to being cheaper, is that he’s proved he can play well in the Premier League.
Sinclair played 40 times with 8 goals for Swansea the season before last, after helping the Welsh club to promotion the previous season with 27 goals in 50 appearances in the Championship.
Scott started his career at Bristol Rovers as 9 nine year-old, and then moved to Chelsea in 2005, and he went on loan to a number of clubs before finally leaving the London club for a move to Swansea in August three years ago for £1M.
We think Scott would be a decent buy for Newcastle at £5M, although Manchester City are asking £6M, but it’s a very decent bid by the Tyneside club, and an agreement on the fee should be able to be worked out.
Southampton are another Premier League club who are rumored to be interested in the England U21 International.
