Why is that surface and indeed other artificial surfaces still allowed? I seem to recall their recent fixture against Dundee United was postponed on account of a frozen pitch.
No idea why it is allowed up here.
Livi and Killie pitches are poor at best.

When managers confess that they are deliberately omitting players because of the potential risk of injury, then the authorities should take heed and demand that all surfaces be of a similar nature.

Did anybody watch the Celtic game. That ref.
Awards a penalty for no reason at all.Var changes the verdict.
Misses a clear handball and does not give a penalty.
Var helps him out again.
Terrible refereeing.

Not got an issue with the surfaces, infact I enjoy all the seethe they needlessly produce. What's the issue with them?

Or managers should realise that there's no more or no less risk of injury than with a perfectly good state of the art grass pitch?

Ross County drew 1/1 with Hibs.
Shocker of a game in the wind and rain.
McKirdy of hibs must be a bad a player as there has been in the spl.

A good grass pitch is far better than any artificial pitch. That is a fact.
This artificial surfaces are getting better is a myth.

It's not a myth though, they have literally improved. It's not stuff you kick a ball about on with your mates at the 5 a sides.

In an ideal world everyone would have a good grass pitch. In an ideal world everyone would be able to afford a good grass pitch. But they can't, we can't. Even the national stadium struggle to maintain a decent grass surface.

Tell you what is a fact though, a good grass pitch is just as likely to cause an injury as an artificial pitch.

Not talking about injuries.
No way a good grass pitch gives you the same awkward bounces throughout the game as an artificial pitch.
That Livi pitch was a disgrace for both teams on Sunday.

Perhaps, but the fears seem to persist.

I've previously read studies (when having this same debate) that actually showed artificial as being slightly less likely to cause injury. Seen various conclusions reached either way but the only conclusion I can actually draw from that is that there's no discernible difference.

Can't speak for Livingston but Killie's injury record this season has been quite poor but previous seasons one of the best in the league. Our most serious injury this season was picked up by Chrisene recently at the national stadium and now he's likely to be out for the season. What's strange though is that the next person who does an ACL at Killie or Livi the surface will automatically be blamed as if nobody ever gets injured or does their ACL on grass...it's mad.

Try reading a bounce on most Scottish pitches any time from December - April and you'll struggle. Cow fields all over the country. I don't see the bounces on artificial as awkward, infact they're truer if anything. Given players train on them every day it shouldn't be a problem.

As I say, if every club had the money to maintain a good grass pitch throughout the season (and have separate training facilities and all the rest of it) then ideal, if not then artificial isn't something to get nickers in a twist over like many do imo

I know our form against the old firm is poor but that tonight was as bad as it gets.
3 going on 10.An easy win for Rangers.
Killie,St Johnstone,St Mirren and Celtic also win.

Wrong selection, wrong formation, and only VAR and the keeper kept that semi respectable for Hearts. There’s a gulf between the Old Firm and the rest which is only widening.

Gross misconduct, allegedly.
Important win for Kilmarnock last night, notwithstanding. They have nine games left before the split, yet in that run they still have to play all the teams currently in the top six.

Unless Aberdeen stabilise quickly, the bottom six is likely to be a real dogfight between all teams. Not sure anyone could confidently predict who will drop at this stage.

Motherwell are in complete freefall but with Van Veen, Obika and another new forward in the door I think they have enough firepower to pull themselves out of trouble. If I was a betting man I'd look at Killie (sadly) and County bottom two.

Kilmarnock have had a tough start to the year, and three successive meetings against the Old Firm is never welcome, but they’ve taken 4 points from the last 6, which is reassuring. Alas, they now face a tricky run of three away games, including a cup tie, before hosting Motherwell at the end of this month, which could be a key one. I reckon they’ll need 10 more points from the remaining fixtures to be in a stronger position come the split, but I’ll wait to see the lie of the land then before getting my sovereigns out of the strong box.
