Sea swimming at Christmas why ?

No they didnt. A teenage girl stood on the beach steps to take a photo and a strong high wave came and pulled her in. Her panicked family from on the prom then went after her. And 3pm is an hour before it goes dark. I know facts get in the way of blaming everyone for their own death in the internet, but just wanted to say.

Happy to concede that indeed after earlier reports there was no swimming going on however, there was stupidity and 15.10 in bad weather with the search called off by 16.00 would suggest 'as it was going dark' to be a fair comment by me.
Bottom line though is people all around the country have died in the sea the last few days and it could have all been avoided.

No, not fair comment.
The search was called off 25 hours after the incident, not one hour after.
It happened 3pm friday, search called off 4pm Saturday.
Very quick to blame someone without reading properly.
This is not the same as swimming, not even the same as standing on sea walls taking selfies like drunk idiots do in the dark. From what I can gather, standing on clear steps with no sign of the waves coming on to them does not mean you realise a giant one will get you within a minute of you standing there. The rough sea can look appealing to "go have a look for a minute" . No one expects to die. A horrific panicked death, trying to grab lifebelt rings thrown to you. I'm sure their family take solice in people blaming them and actually thinking the rnli would give up after only an hour.
