In a ballon pissing over the swamp!
The Mancini honeymoon is over, last few games we have been woeful, no desire, second to balls, and scraping it against teams we should be beating...as like last season the home record keeping us afloat.

The manager change and injuries and affecting us, the fans are down not only at results but how we perform.

This is a crucial point in season, the next 3 games will either confirm our status at top or the slide down the table. Forget about what has gone on in past with managers, we are just beating ourselves up, we have a manager, we have players......this will not change until end of season...

At the end of the day the table does not lie, we are fourth with a game in hand, we need to get behind team at weekend, create a better atmosphere....lets be positive, to be honest we are playing shite, but still in race....THIS IS CITY FFS, DID ANYONE REALLY BELIEVE WE WOULD CRUISE IT TO 4TH SPOT AND WIN A CUP ON THE WAY....thats not the CITY way, we never fucking do it easy, last game of the season will decide it - loving it!

Its up to the players and the fans to stop our season falling apart....time to stand up and be counted lads! CTID

4th and no good and 10 points quite possibly behind Chelsea and playing shit with a third of the season to go.

Imagine what we will be like when we play well.

We will still be shit in the eyes of many of the fly by night posters we have on board at present.

We are playing the Manchini way (well trying to) Defend deep and keep the ball, sounds easy but has we're finding out our players are struggling... De jong last night never once went beyond 10 yards from infront of the back four, Barry is staying to deep as well as Vieira, so our forwards are playing 40 yards up field on there own. We gave away 5 throw ins in dangerous areas in the first 10 mins last night..... dont the players learn ? we Can't defend unless Vinny is playing (imho) Why drop Bridge? Last night was awful again and i dont see us improving with this team who cannot defend.

The OP is valid, yes we are 4th, but recent performances against Portsmouth, Hull (especiallly), bolton, and both Stoke games have been dismal at best (5 games is an 8th of the season!) Play is soooo slooooow teams get two banks of four lined up while our defenders and 8 DM's are passing about on the edge of our box and when we do get it deep and cross the ball the CF is usually stood next to the winger!

We do look better defensively, the biggest problem under the previous regime, but can people see us beating, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham or even Stoke?

New manager, new system, takes time etc. etc. no argument from me on that, not asking for his head, nor will I if we finish 8th! I am a firm believer in giving a manager time, but to believe blindly that all is well with our team at this moment in time is madness IMO. On the positive side we are playing badly and getting results and we cant be bad forever... can we?

We're 4th place you halfwit.

He did say that, but to be fair the title and the post were pretty confusing.

I did say that, you halfwit! :) ..I am simply asking question is season falling apart as some people on here seem to love it when we lose....now is the time for real supporters of the club to stand up and support the club. Its a forum, debate, you pose question....

Our season is neither falling apart nor progressing.

We've had the same fundamental problem all season, our defense. We've only looked comfortable defensively in one game that I can remember, Wolves away.

Both managers have tried to paper over the cracks of our defense in different ways. Hughes flooded the team with attackers in the hope that we could outscore our opponents. Mancini has flooded the team with defensive midfielders in the hope that our flair players would nick a goal and we would grind out wins. Neither strategy has worked consistently. Under Hughes our opponents were always in the game knowing that they could score. Under Mancini we dont create enough pressure, no matter how many DM's we play we dont dominate the game.

Long term we must improve the back 4. In the short term we need to accept that Toure & Lescott could play together for 10 years and never form a solid partnership, both need a commanding centre half to play alongside. Hopefully when Kompany is fit Mancini will bite the bullet and give Richards, Kompany, Lescott & Bridge a chance.
