Not sure what to make of this.
Have the club, Soriano et al, seen that many blues are at breaking point and that they couldn't afford to risk another increase given the recent public discontent about prices nationally and now at City - and the backlash that would bring?
Glad there has been a freeze, but it's still not enough IMO. Even a small reduction would've been a huge positive, that would've made no dent whatsoever in the club's overall turnover but would've made an enormous difference to the supporters.
This still doesn't show me that we're not going down the route of monetising the support at any cost, and I don't think anyone should be fooled by it.
The least we could've hoped for is a binning of Platinum. Save a lot of people money and would cease making a mockery or the loyalty points system. Blues who sacrifice platinum to save money shouldn't feel screwed and that their loyalty counts for nothing because other blues have double points on every ticket because they can afford to spend more. I'm not more loyal than the blue next to me because I can afford the £50. It's needlessly divisive and is just outright cynical monetising.
I think that's something in particular that we should be pushing for now. No justification for it. It's more or less a "pay the extra £50 or lose your place in the pecking order for tickets" fee.
Still a lot of work to do IMO. We shouldn't be satisfied with this. The rags have had season ticket prices frozen for 5 consecutive years now and have a no interest monthly instalment direct debit payment for their season tickets just like us, for perspective.
There's still more we should be pushing for, IMO, and certainly now as a national effort because the price of football is without doubt a national issue. Pointing to the often disgraceful prices Arsenal fans are expected to pay is scant justification, and it happens all too often.
