Seat Counters - 2023/24

When I posted that I was making a joke comparison. I wasn’t implying City should sell kids tickets for a quid. But as you say, £30, regardless if that’s in L3.
I know you weren’t being serious about the tickets for a quid, kids tickets should be no more than £15/£20 apart from corporate areas for any game ever, and that still isn’t cheap in my view.

If it does sell out, then fair enough. But as of now, even though it is only Tuesday, it‘s way off from selling out.

As others have pointed out correctly, there will be another 8000 seats to fill for a similar match in 2 years time. Will the ticket prices for that match be similar or even more expensive by then?

The ticket pricing policy then will be exactly as I suspect it is now.

Charge as much as you can whilst ensuring the ground is full, or at least 95% full. ( Which it was against Burnley and Brentford, to kill two birds and save replying to your other reply separately)

52000 @ £40 average - £1.82m
54000 @ £30 average - £1.62m

Club favours A over B. They won’t be losing any sleep over a few empty seats.

It will prob be close to a sell out by the day of the game I would imagine but if not then they won’t care. They may even give the rest away to schools/groups.
You have to minus off merchandise, food, drink, parking, etc on 52,000 as well.

It depends what amount a few empty seats will be on Saturday? If it’s close to selling out, you’re right, they won’t.

It’s not just about the loss of revenue, even though the club keep on playing the match day revenue card, it’s about having less City fans inside the ground supporting the team.

95% isn’t full. It might not be 95% full on Saturday? The ground should be full on Saturday. We have the best football manager in the world. We have officially the best football team in the world. It’s the quarter final of the FA Cup. Win the game and City are at Wembley again. We only have to sell 45,000 tickets for a full house. We are selling out 53,000 every home game in the PL with the away allocation only being 3000. Newcastle will have over 7000 fans.We have 1000’s of fans who can’t get a PL ticket and want to watch the team play. Huddersfield in the cup sold out. There were loads of families at the match, Mum’s, Dad’s, kids all going together, wearing their City shirts, scarfs, hats etc. It was great to see. They went because they could afford the tickets. They’re not going now, or so far, because they either can’t afford the tickets or they’re not prepared to pay the ticket prices.

I’m not talking about what it should be or what we’d like it to be.

I’m talking about how I think the club price matches. And the difference in 95% and 100% of tickets sold is so negligible in terms of income, the difference probably wouldn’t pay what they give Scotty Carson to brew up at half time.

The club don’t care about the fans anymore. Gets worse every year. Saying that, what clubs do?

I understand what you are saying. What I’m saying is the Etihad should be full for the game against Newcastle. And hopefully it will be?(repeat) The club should have factored that in before deciding ticket prices. Especially with 7000+ Geordies roaring the Newcastle team on.

Based on the fact that City have increased prices every season bar one since the takeover i think we all know the answer will be more expensive.

I completely get where you're coming from, but we can only judge after the game when we know if it has sold out or not. If it does, the club got it spot on pricing wise. They'll see it as a big Cup game against PL opposition and something people should pay more for. Huddersfield they recognised it's a less attractive game and priced it accordingly.

We need to maximise revenues to stay competitive. We're the best team in the world and the club probably think people should be willing to pay more to see us because of that. They don't ultimately care whether traditional fans are priced out and replaced by newer fans. It's whoever pays more. And whilst we can trot out the fact that they might disappear if we became a mid-table side again, the club positively have the mindset that we'll continue to be at the top - that future decline isn't an option for them.

It's madness. Probably the greatest time we'll ever watch City and most people are priced out. Shame on the club. It has sold it's soul.
Most aren't priced out, some will be. Does that mean it couldn't be cheaper ,no. I was priced out due to my circumstances in the 90s. I didn't see that as the clubs problem. Now I'm not priced out.

To be fair I think a lot of people who aren’t season ticket holders are priced out of regular league games. Hence why you see so many families going to cup games in my opinion - because they’re usually cheaper

I understand that, and I'm not saying tickets couldn't or shouldn't be cheaper but just saying while some will be priced out to say most are priced out is wrong. LotS of people and I''m one these days don't want to go every week and pick and choose between for me , gigs, meals out, weekends away and games , of all those football isn't really any more expensive than the rest. Only reason I've gone to less games this season was difficulty buying tickets together.
I know this comes across as a bit I'm alright Jack, but as I say there was a time I couldn't afford any football, luckily for me it was in the late 90s :)

This thread is becoming the flapper’s thread. This game will sell out.
I agree. Where I think sales might've lagged a bit is City not relaxing the criteria a little earlier and then not communicating to the fans when they did relax it, only sending an e-mail out later. But it looks like they're shifting again now and with 3 full days of sales to go, it should easily sell out now.

Interestingly, City sent a text out last night saying ticket transfer is available for all those who have paid for a ticket via the cup scheme. I think this is a first?

They've slowed sales for every game by not putting anything on open sale/membership number any more. I bet it's pushing revenues right up. I reckon they over-estimated demand for this one because as you say it was members only and then when they dropped that they didn't push it. I presume a bit of an advertising campaign over the next few days and they'll be gone.

They usually use these FA Cup games to promote the club to very young fans and I've always harboured a suspicion that they are counter productive. Kids want noise and atmosphere and an identity and these cup games only ever result in a one-sided singing contest with the outcome of "Is this a library" because the away fans have filled the roof space with their noise.

You are both missing the point. I can't afford to go even though I could walk there. I have a season ticket at the back of SS3 its cheap and on DD so I can afford premier league games on that basis. I want to go on Saturday but anything over £30 means I can't. There's 2 of us in this house in the same position. People think of ticket prices singular. Its often Dad n lad etc . The club have consistently put prices up. It's turning local legacy fans away. I will watch on TV but I'm very disappointed to be doing so. It will be cheaper for the semi at Wembley. Greedy bastards. Fk the light shows off and all the cringy stuff like presenters nobody listens to . Huddersfield sold out yet this might do. Is anyone from City reading these pages?
