Seat Counters - 2024/25

Virtually every match was sold out in August. The vast majority of spare seats are no shows from season ticket holders who can’t be arsed or can’t attend for valid personal reasons.
The initial allocation the club put onsale were sold out, but they do not put all the tickets onsale at the beginning of the season.
They hold back the ticket partner allocation and a further percentage for players , staff and other hangers on.
These are the tickets that are then released back onto general sale, about 4 weeks before a match, when their partners realise they can't shift them.
Couple that with tickets exchangeses and you end up with 4000 tickets remaining unsold .

Edit, sorry M18 beat me to it

No doubt that there will be ST holders putting their tickets on the exchange but you're not factoring in blocks of tickets returned from 3rd party ticket agencies - tickets that were never on sale to fans in the first place last summer - who haven't been able to sell them. This has happened a few times now - Forest in December, Leicester the other week, and now Villa tonight. How do you explain a block of 200 or so seats all together and all at the back of one of the 3rd tier blocks suddenly appearing on the planner for the Villa game? That's clearly not a load of season ticket holders who are in the same part of the ground suddenly deciding to whack their seats back on the exchange all at the same time.
All true mate but even if the full 550 were returned by the nogo 9, it wouldn’t put much of a dent in the missing for tonight 4,000. I know there will be a few hundred tickets returned that were saved for flexi-golds.

There’s so many issues including transport problems, parking costs, match day ticket prices but a significant minority of our fans have had enough of going to midweek games.

The Club need to put the 10 game rule on the back burner but at the same time reduce the incentives for the stay aways. The main focus has to be on growing a bigger, sustainable fan base and many of us have mentioned the Junior Blues, family tickets etc before.

Seats available on the planner:
  • Level 1 = 1,998
  • Level 2 = 833
  • Level 5 = 2,413
  • Total = 5,244
Blocks not release
  • 527 = 463 (as pointed out by Marvin)
  • 528 = 1,159
  • 529 = 1,112
  • 530 = 1,054
  • 531 = 482 (as pointed out by fathelensbellend)
  • Total = 4,270
Allocation is 36,190 less 9,514 so sales are 26,676.

Sold 399 tickets since my last count yesterday.

I think the majority are season ticket resales. I used to sit in 105 and that block was all season-tickets and now there are loads of seats for sale in that block. And in 305, where I sit now, I can see my neighbours season tickets up for sale. They never come to midweek games but usually their seats are occupied.

A part solution would be to lower match-day prices for midweek games so that other fans can buy them up.

I'm FG and live 225 miles away so can't do midweek matches. My seat was unsold for Leicester & is currently unsold for both tonight and the Wolves fixture.

If I had a gold ST I could've offloaded it to a blue on here for a cheaper price and the seat would've been filled, but alas the club don't want that.

I’ve given 4 tickets away since yesterday mate. There just isn’t the demand for tickets for the midweek games like there used to be. It’s inconvenient - particularly for Blues travelling a long distances - and some fans have had enough success to last a lifetime.

Mates from Wales and Yorkshire just can’t get there tonight but have been very generous with their tickets.

I see the FG’s as mainly for young families. City have to come up with more innovative ways of selling empty seats.

My Wolves ticket was snapped up the day after I listed it, fantastic.

Plus the small matter of a very expensive wembley trip 4 days later.

Presumably City (like every other club) hold back some seats for corporate/sponsor packages/tour groups etc. But it is a very small fraction of those on the seat planner. I am sure the vast majority of tickets are returns from season-ticket holders. More season ticket holders should attend matches or transfer to friends and family. That is a fundamental issue. I missed most of our games this season before Christmas because of serious health issues, and am on all three Cup Schemes, but my ticket was only an "empty seat at home" on one occasion.

The high match-day prices result from what the club found they can charge and sell out the ground.

Tourists (as in fans who do not support City) are an insignificant part of our match-day fanbase. At least they go to the game.

They can't though can they and the tourists ( As in fans who do not support City ) are not insignificant. It is the clamour from such fans to ride the coat tails of our recent success that has prompted the wankers setting ticket prices to hike them up to ridiculous levels.

As they've found out it is a policy built on sand and as a bit of good old Manchester rain has fallen ( As in a poor season by our recent high standards) it has washed that sand away and the foundations are wobbling.

They go to the glamour games. The club gambled they would turn up and pay £70 to Palace etcetera at home, they were wrong. Who was there? The old school who weren't priced out. Everybody who was there commented how good the atmosphere was as a result. The empty spaces ( And there were many) were because bread and butter fans couldn't afford the prices and tourists didn't fancy it.

True mate. Some of our smallest crowds at the Wtihad have come in the week before Wembley.

BTW I’ve gone for the £30 tickets and £40 coach for Wembley.
Cheaper than buying a £71 ticket off the planner! It proves that Wembley can be done on the cheap. I think transport is a major issue but I have been doing well with split train tickets this season. London via Milton Keynes is costing me £42 return from Preston with an overnight Travelodge in MK for £27. For the Orient match the train was packed with City fans using that route. The quoted price for using Avanti was a rip-off at £127 return.

So was mine. My Villa one has been up there for two weeks with no takers. There are so many on offer on here with no takers that it’s not really worth adding to the stockpile.

Tim, surely you don't believe that there are only 550 tickets in total that are farmed out to the ticket partners per match? Loads more than 550 tickets appeared back on the planner in those 3rd tier blocks the other week. Have a look at how many Forest tickets reappeared back on the planner for December's game. It was in the thousands.

The demand definitely is there IF the tickets were priced more appropriately.

I think you are underestimating how many City hold back for each match after the initial sales window.
Would you be surprised if I told you approximately 3000 plus tickets per match are not released on the initial sales window in August.

Like I said, there was around 200 in one block alone that reappeared for the Villa game, plus hundreds of others in several other blocks. It was worse for the Forest game in December - the returns from third parties ran into 4 figures. People need to stop swallowing the line that the club only give 550 tickets in total to third party ticket agencies for each match. It's bollocks.

Not read it on here or on social media, but I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of the club putting tickets on the exchange and resale sites at the same time ?
