Seat Counters 25/26

Sorriano wont give a big cheesy fuck if the new stand is half empty half the time.

He will love the ego boost of having emgland games and champs league finals though.
I was about to comment on how if we want to host major European finals then the transport infrastructure around the ground needs to improve.

Then I remember the infrastructure we put up with in Istanbul, I think we'll be alright.

Not too bad in summer when most can walk from town. A big increase in shuttle buses, a few road closures, and two proper taxi ranks would solve most of the issues. What happens at City with taxis, pedestrians, buses, trams, all on the same roads at the same time is just incompetence.

A lot of the loyal fans still go mate. Yes the ticket prices are often excessive and it’s sad to read of priced out fans. Many of us protested about this.

Thst said, being a loyal fan doesn’t include supporting two Prem teams IMHO.. Each to their own and I have spoken to Brighton fans who also support Liverpool when I’ve gone to away games.

There’s a lot of disillusioned Blues on here but there’s also a hardcore of about 35k that go to every home game. I have met some great Brighton fans including the landlord of a pub who got a big round in for us when we would the League at Brighton.

I’ve also met Brighton fans who stereo type City fans as tourists and poor fans. That includes Brighton fans trying to start a fight outside Wembley when they lost an FA Cup semi final.

Many of us dislike some of the decisions of our Directors. I can understand your frustrations at unaffordable tickets. That said, I find it bit strange that you have never heard of some of the great work of City in the Community or how investments by our main owner have helped to transform East Manchester. I am just mentioning this for a bit of balance.

I am a match going fan of 50 years and I reckon that’s only about the average on here. You’ve fallen out of love with City. Many of us, even with our gripes haven’t. We’ve also loved seeing the success on the pitch over the last 15 years.

All the best for the future and good luck to your family with supporting Brighton.
I never mentioned I supported Brighton so that assumption is wrong to start with. I would also agree with you that a lot of people round here do support a Liverpool, United, Arsenal and then watch Brighton regularly. But I reiterate I never have or never will support Brighton. I merely watch them with my family as in my view football is best watched live and I enjoy spending my time with my 2 sons and wife.

Just to go further I wouldn’t ever support another side. It just wouldn’t happen. But I love watching football and I enjoy watching it live so I watch other teams play frequently (whether that be Brighton, Aldershot, Dorking, Horsham to name some I watch when time allows) I am just obsessed with football.

The tone of your post is very condescending imo and defensive. I never said I spoke for anyone else. I gave my opinion and described how I PERSONALLY feel and gave examples as to why I feel that way.

It was me just trying to best understand why I feel this way. If anything the post was for me. When city lost in the past it would ruin me day. Now I barely even care. I was trying to make sense of why I feel the way I do and I just wrote it all down in a thread I believed it was relevant to. As I mentioned I felt sad that my eldest son would not support city and I explained that.

I respect your opinion and I don’t judge you for having a different experience to me. That is totally expected as we are different people from different lives. But I maintain city do not do enough for their local loyal fans. The example I gave is a very good one imo. The access foreign fans get during these pre season tours is like nothing fans here get. It’s just one small example but it speaks volumes to me. Ticket prices another. Ease of passing tickets on. Etc etc

I hope you continue to enjoy your time watching city mate. As I say I don’t expect anyone to feel how I do as all of our footballing journeys are totally unique. But please don’t insinuate or make a snidely remark about me supporting another club. That just simply isn’t true.

As I said. I follow city. I just don’t know if I support them now. It may not make sense to you but it does to me.

No chance of a CL final while the toilet down the road means 14,000 more tickets sold and Wembley is almost 30,000 bigger. - Might get a Thursday League final as we did in 2008.
The best thing about an England game at the Etihad is taking the piss out of the big, big England fans in the area who still won't try to get a ticket.

This will be a new one for Bluemoan - posters will be fuming at the thought of home fans filling up the away end first ; )

Agree with the points made by the poster BTW!
Is the poster a home fan though? They admit in their post they have a season ticket at Brighton (not City), so them being in the away end seems right to me......

As I’ve explained. My wife supports Brighton. We live 20 mins from Brighton. Before our 2nd child we had season ticket at city. Because I have always supported city and would make the long drive every home game.

When my youngest was born we couldn’t get 4 together. Along with Covid, the super league etc we didn’t renew. As kids got older we missed going live football. We couldn’t justify the ad hoc prices for city games and it’s impossible to get one season ticket let alone 4 at city. so my wife got us season tickets at Brighton so we could enjoy football as a family.

My youngest now supports Brighton. My eldest is torn. Leaning towards Brighton now. My wife said we should go in the away end for Wednesday game as it was significantly cheaper thanks to cap on away tickets. I reluctantly agreed because money is tight after Christmas and I have dragged her many times to city games despite her not supporting them.

I watched the game from away end. I hated it. My wife and kids had a great time.

Hope that sums it up for you. Funny how I have to justify myself to people or prove I am/was a city fan. I don’t think it’s hard to understand what I’m saying.

If you need proof of me in city shirts throughout the years happy to provide them (that’s sarcasm btw)

A couple of big taxi ranks at either end of the ground like a major airport would really help. The match day buses have helped a bit already but there are only 17 of them. It’s not rocket science.
The Taxis were moved from Ashton New Road as they were causing loads of problems for fans leaving the stadium and walking back into town. They were parked up on both sides of the road, doing u-turns in the road, stopping fans from walking, then driving slowly in-between and behind the fans. I'm glad the council put an end to it. The taxis have now started parking up outside Mary ,D's and down the road causing the same problems. I'm going to report it to MCC.

I know you’ve been a long time Blue but I read your post as you’ve got to end of your tether and were switching to Brighton and you could be at the games with your son. If I’ve misread that then that’s my bad.

You like everyone is entitled to their views. I don’t know where you’ve got this snidy stuff from. That’s pretty poor from you but it’s water off a duck’s back.

Our Directors are money focussed, ruthless business people. Yes it would be good if there were pre-season games where more local fans have access to the players but they go abroad to raise income and the upshot is we get to see Haaland and Donaruma.

The facts are they you failed to recognise anything positive City in the Community does or how our owners have helped to transform East Manchester. You might not rate that but in doing so your post lacked balance.

Regarding tickets being un affordable. I do something about that. I’ve ensured a Dad and lad got free tickets for tomorrow and I’ve got another pair of tickets that will go to Blues. Admittedly, tickets are cheap for tomorrow.

I understood you were a City fan from the first time you posted mate.
