Seat Counters 25/26

According to BBC Football - Mediacity.

Venue:Etihad Stadium

Attendance:35,259

Roughly 17,000 empty seats.

Fucking bullshit from the Rag infested BBC Sport at Salford Quays.

It's time Matchday Membership was scrapped. £35 fee to have virtually no chance of getting tickets for games against the top 6 clubs. It's just a rip off. I was lucky enough to get a season card due to covid deferrals a few years ago. If I hadn't got that I would probably have given up attending games. I love City but I hate the way they treat the fans. There's no way we are going be selling 61,000 tickets for games unless they completely rethink ticket sales and realise that there is a cost of living crisis in this country. There should also be significant discounts for fans who want to follow the club in all four competitions.

The attendance was 35,259 according to the BBC.

I didn't see any Galatasaray fans in my block. The turnout was very poor. I suspect it's a continuation of recent seasons where out of town seasoncard holders don't go, and added to that the tightened sales criteria reduced the number of matchday fans.

That attendance figure is on various other websites such as ESPN and Sky Sports.

Take the tin foil hat off, old boy.

They’re really are going to have do something. I’m probably being dramatic but I feel like I’m watching the death of our support this season.

If that attendance is correct, you can subtract the 3,000 in the visitors section plus another 1,000 in the 'EUFA away' middle tier of the CB stand. So even assuming that there were no Galatasary fans in any of the home sections, that means that just over 30k City fans attended (I also know people that are in the cup scheme but didn't go).
If this doesn't set alarm bells ringing within the club, nothing will.
Next season we could potentially playing in the Champions League in a half empty stadium!!!

Have to get top 4 first

158 tickets sold since 3pm yesterday afternoon.
Tickets remaining for League Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg v Newcastle. 7 days to go until the game and selling about a couple of hundred tickets a day. Likely about 10k empty seats for it - attendance of about 43k as Newcastle will have sold out their 5,359 allocation

Level 0: 4,204

Level 1: 3,388

Level 3: estimated 4,245 as Level 3 is now greyed out since Monday afternoon.

Total: 11,837 tickets left
585 tickets sold since yesterday morning

alarming and worrying times

It's the membership fee making a big difference.

Said on another thread, City fans are used to being able to get tickets pretty easily. We don't have this huge demand or waiting list just to get to a game the way other clubs do. People aren't going to pay a membership fee just for the opportunity to get a ticket, when they have been able to just buy a ticket without one for decades or been transferred one by a pal.

If that goes things will instantly improve.

City have done this. I’ve seen some people on X criticising our fans for the no show last night, but I think the mood amongst our fan base right now isn’t a good one.

During the latter parts of the treble winning season, our fans got together and created a great atmosphere for the players. Games were sold out, the place was rocking for some games and everyone felt together despite the premier league dropping the 115 charges.

The following season was pretty good too, made history by winning four titles in a row, this was the perfect opportunity for the club to realise the clubs potential. They did something right by announcing plans to expand the stadium and advertising the new north stand to be a proper city section.

But all that momentum and positivity was fucked off. Changing plans for the north stand, implementing new rules regarding season tickets, not being able to pass tickets on. They installed cameras in the new turnstiles, we all know what is coming in the near future with those. I’m sure there’s more that I’ve missed, but it’s been a never ending amount of bollocks thrown at us.

If you read around forums and social media, it isn’t just City at it. Premier league club owners are killing their loyal fan bases, there’s only so much you can take before you starting feeling fed up.

There are a lot of seasoncard holders who don't go to midweek Cup games. Mostly, e.g., Leverkusen, match-day fans make up the difference. The Gala game was hopefully a one-off.

If you don't live in Greater Manchester, getting to midweek games, and paying the travel costs is demanding. The problem is that City have not made any effort to sell new seasoncards. The new stand is an opportunity to do that but there is no news, unless I have missed it, on ticketing for the new stand.

Last night was like the Chelsea at home Friday night game, all those years ago, when many thousands of Blues were scared off by MUEN headline saying don’t go to the game.

Credit to the team and the fans who got behind the lads. It was a tremendous win and making the top 8 was no mean feet after the shambles of Bodo. I’m just happy to have been there.

Credit to City for maintaining the safety of fans as far as they we able to. We had loads of empty seats but it at least the ground didn’t get renamed Little Istanbul like happened to the rags. Gala received tremendous vocal support from the South Stand and their fans dotted around d parts of the ground were largely respectful

Our young Blue team can hold our heads up high. For once, the attendance wasn’t all that important compared with the fantastic win and the few young families that attended going home safely.

Hopefully, more of those obsessed with empty seats will attend more home games and call for the overhaul of the industrial scale points whoring system where people join the cup schemes just for the ticket points.

Sympathy for Blues who couldn’t afford the game but I know more Blues who missed the match because of expensive foreign holidays. Good luck to them.

That said, City really need to do some amnesty and stop banning fans for misdemeanours and who have been acquitted of more serious charges.

The discount scheme is a good idea. Those who turn up for midweek games in all four comps deserve some help. The club needs to be more creative on pricing. A discount for local postcodes would also be good to help younger local fans.
