Seat Counters 25/26

Same here. Last champions league for me too. I am in my 70s been going since 1967. Pissed off with the difficulty in travelling. Having to park a 20 minute walk away which is hard with my health problems. Get soaking wet most nights. TV for me now. Public transport is a joke, especially the trams. Wait till we get 60k there plus a concert. I bet no other club has such shit transport links. Stopping parking near the stadium when there are no houses and businesses there is ridiculous. It just seems like Burnham and his cronies don't give a shit as long as they can easily get to old toilet with its 4' yes FOUR team lines. Rant over.
Can't you link into the "free" match day bus somewhere?

This season is very likely to be the highest combined attendance in our entire history and we will beat it next season with the new stand.

It’s also the last season for many years where a combination of the Club’s policies and fans behaviours have stopped Blue families / newer Blues getting tickets together.

The improvements include the 4k extra season cards / flexis. The end of zero attendance requiring season cards.

A bit more flexibility on ticket transfers and I expect our crowds to be fairly healthy next season.

Transport could certainly be improved but It’s not in our DNA to run away if the bus is a bit full or we aren’t wining trophies all the time.

Fact from you.

People, media led I know but still, are obsessed with unsold tickets.

Completely ignore the 50k+ we will get for about "30" home games this season, many mid week.

The aways that are sold out

The 40k at Wembley for LC

Should we get there, the 35k for FA semi and 40k for FA final.

Our support is fucking shit isn't it!

We will probably not have as many midweek games next year either. Surely the transport will improve a bit. The Arena owners are being bombarded with complaints. I think our support will continue to grow.

We do have problems and they are all of the clubs making.
I don't think people realise how bad the economy is, people are skint, im in business and its the worst i can remember, and that goes for many businesses, people are definitely more selective how they spend their money.

Your idea of a crisis is strange. What is happening is that the demographic of our fanbase is changing as it is for the city of Manchester. A lot of older fans are attending less matches. This has always happened and always will. This forum only represents a tiny fraction of our fanbase. That said I agree there are too many games and tickets are too expensive.
No, I think when swathes of lifelong fans are turning away and the stadium has large numbers of empty seats at virtually every match then it's a problem. You can choose to hijack the argument by weirdly making it about demographics (yeah, the people of Manchester are changing from predominantly white working class into empty blue and white seats), but that was not my point and you know full well it wasn't my point. You confirm this by saying there are too many games and the tickets are too expensive, which is my point entirely.

It might not bother everyone that lifelong blues feel detached, disillusioned and alienated, but it sure as hell bothers me.

Yeah it was decent last night, the £25 single seats should absolutely become the norm now.

Not sure about the "we play Madrid every year" argument here, it's still a big game that people should be desperate to get to.

What worries me is this is another clear sign that the core fanbase is disengaged, yet the club seem to have no intention of trying to win these fans back.
It's a sign for sure but I think Real Madrid at home is a game that still sells itself insofar as any slack vacated by disillusioned fans is easily taken up by members, etc. I'm just surprised that they haven't announced any new criteria yet

I agree with most of what you say. I just think that sometimes there is too much negativity on here. I have been guilty of this myself. It is normal for older fans, like me, to become jaded now and again. But there is a new generation of fans taking our place. This has always happened. Sometimes the negativity is over the top from some posters, not you.

Forest on Wednesday.

The match had started.

A few more seats were taken up as the match progressed, but not many.

That's not correct, yes there were empty seats in that area but I'd say at least half, if not more of those empty seats were filled 15 mins into the game. I do get your point, but you are incorrect in what you have said with this example

That's because I don't have a problem with the transport. Which I have mentioned before.
Noted. I haven’t followed all your posts on this tbh, so I hadn’t picked up on that. I was more thinking about it from the general views that seem to be coming across, rather than what suited me specifically.

And in that sense there does seem to be a fairly widespread concern about lack of parking, traffic congestion, trams issues, increased footfall in the area - alongside the positive measure of the Greater Manchester area club buses being laid on.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. Some of of those seats were taken up, but there was still a substantial amount of empty seats in that section. I'm not saying it was like that all the way through the match because it wasn't. I'm not arguing with you either. We just have a different opinion of how many of those seats remained empty.

Not like you to be dramatic ?
There you go again.

Exactly what I was describing you like on the North stand thread.

And you had the nerve to ask my why I did. Lol!

It's called the seat counting thread. Which involves discussions about filled seats, empty seats and seat sales.

I've got better things to waist my time on than you. Back to work.

Is there? I wouldn’t say that’s happening regularly on a match day. I rarely if ever see groups of young adults at league matches for example.

When a lot of our older fans stop going, I’m not sure who’s going to replace them, as huge numbers have been priced out.

I don't understand why the people who've got difficult drives in, don't use the matchday buses as a park and ride. Or the trains which are running a lot better since Northern Rail got taken over by the government.
