Seat Counters 25/26

Last season City submitted data for the CL Group games to City Matters last season showing that a lot of seasoncard holders were not going to group games. 20k out of 37k were going.

We also know that last season City had 140,000 matcday memberships so your matchday experience is likely generalised around the ground i.e., matchday fans are taking the place of seasoncard holders. That has pluses and minuses associated with it.

I wouldn't put the explanation as 'just aren't interested'. I would say that there are a lot of fans who can just afford a season ticket but can't afford the Cup tickets on top, and the travel. And there's also a lot of fans who live outside Greater Manchester who can't get home after a midweek game, or don't fancy driving back home in the small hours when they have children, and work next day. You are suggesting fans don't like CL football, I suggest its awkward for a number of reasons. The data on season ticket numbers are a matter of fact, but the reasons behind the numbers are a matter of opinion.
Ofcourse it’s more complicated and things like price for example play a huge factor. However I do know season ticket holders who just aren’t interested in the champions league. They’ll attend midweek league or league cup games though

There’s a lot of older fans as well who don’t attend midweek games. I can see that on the bus I sometimes get

Others have walked so I can run.
You’ve come into the squad and got up to speed quickly as a handy utility man and not made the mistakes that a lot of newbies do You know what the biggest SC Newbie error is? Going into the seat planner for a league game a few days before. Seeing that all or most blocks are available. Kicking off at our terrible support. Then being shown that these are odd single seats being returned on the Seat Exchange all the time. They nearly all fall for that one.

A couple of tips for when we are entering the home straight for a game like we are with Madrid. Beware “returns” just when you’re getting complacent. A cup game doesn’t get the seat exchange influx/merry go round like a league game but there can be batches of tickets allocated but not taken by coach parties, agencies, staff and off-site hospitality. They often come late in the process too in batches. You haven’t encountered the notorious “algorithm” yet, in fact it’s been conspicuous by its absence this year. I think they quietly dropped it when flapjack hacked it.

Best piece of advice I can give you? @bluesmith knows best. He doesn’t get all silly with daft predictions like me and some of the other regulars. He is quietly the master but he keeps it quiet unless he needs to step in. Like Galdalf in Lord of The Rings.

I see myself as a Nico O’Reilly figure, come up through the ranks into the first team squad, done some good things and added value but not getting ahead of myself of the heavy hitters in Rodri, Dias and Haaland etc. who have done it all before me.

Cheers pal but I still get it wrong too, I thought the Carabao final would make additional season ticket holders and we'd get another allocation.

Madrid at home

SS3 - 2,035
CB3 - 297
ES3 - 123
Total - 2,455

Almost 300 gone in under 3 hours.

Getting on for 2,000 roughly in 24 hours.

Not often. I thought the same on both. Probably too late for the additional allocation which shows you demand was high through the member clubs.

Seen some posts today saying we’ve only sold around 1000 tickets for tonight’s game in Madrid, I’m assuming that’s bollox, because I’m sure there were only a couple of hundred left on sale last week?!
I think it’s just over 1,000, we took a reduced allocation this time. People need to remember there’s now extra CL games every season and it’s very expensive to go abroad and away. Plus we keep playing Madrid every season so the regulars will pick another fixture if they’ve constantly got to go to Madrid. Something UEFA don’t care about.
