Seat Counters 25/26

Very long time since I've seen tickets available in every single block the day of a Premier League game...
Great effort by those who are making it tonight, with expensive time of year, bad weather, midweek fixture. Seriously though...same issues will arise next year but with 7,000 extra seats.

Up from the Midlands a all because my gf is loving haaland and a better football team lol

hope we do sell all nine blocks, but 3 blocks not been on sale...we will wait and see!
That's a more accurate summary

We'll just about fill our normal PL allocation but won't need the extra tickets with so many who attended the earlier game at Newcastle, and last week's game at Sunderland, not bothering.

That's not a criticism of anyone.

It's not the easiest place to get to for a midweek fixture without an afternoon off work, and unlike London, we don't have many fans in the North East who can pick up the slack.

Exeter - sold out
Need to take a moment to give credit where credit is due, the club have done fantastic here.

From the cheap prices, to quickly getting it on general sale, to being proactive in taking it off general sale once it became clear that exeter fans were trying to get home end tickets.

A well deserved sell out, and should be a fantastic crowd in with plenty of youngsters.

What is a legacy fan?
Its just a modern phrase to help older supporters feel morally superior, but in reality, is as laughable as the "United DNA"

Everyone yearning for the good old days when football was cheaper and we could just turn up on the day

No fickle fans
No tourists
No Half and half scarves
No early leavers

The only fly in the ointment is the evidence that all this retrospective view of football utopia is utter bollocks and that City have never had such regularly high attendances as what we're now witnessing

Yes,.60,000 will be a challenge next season, but so was 47,000 in 2003 and the subsequent increase to 54,000

We certainly had early leavers in the late 70s and the Kippax chanting PART TIME SUPPORTERS as the Platt Lane started to drift away.

We definitely had shite crowds and poor atmosphere in the mid 80s

One regular poster finds it amusing to continually belittle midweek non-attendees for using "school nights" or "bad weather" as mitigating Circumstances

However you can go all the way back to the 13,000 attendance for the abandoned midweek game v Norwich in 1965
Somewhere along the line, many City fans took one look at the weather forecast and thought BOLLOCKS!
34,000 for the rearranged game (also midweek) when presumably it was warmer.

Similar story for 76-77 when with the notable exception of the Sunderland game (when they brought thousands) it was the midweek games v Birmingham Boro and Norwich that produced the lower crowds.

I can't remember the norwich game.
I remember a game around then postponed as we reached the ground.
I was also there for the Spurs game on Ice (in shorts).
Was Norwich definitely abandoned not postponed(what minute?).
Very good post,a bit of sanity, in the madhouse
As there were 13000 at the game, it was abandoned, silly me.

Yeah it's a weird one and I even asked Gary James if there were any weird circumstances surrounding the two attendances.

The first game v Norwich was on Wednesday September 8th 1965 and was abandoned at half time with the score 1-1
The crowd was 13,325 and considerably less than the previous home game, so there must have been some doubt over whether the fixture was going to go ahead.

However the rearranged fixture on Wednesday October 27th was witnessed by 34,091 (City's highest crowd for over two seasons)
Again, this didn't seem to relate to the other attendances as the next home game was watched by 23,000

By the end of that season the core loyal local support were flocking, 60,000 v Everton I believe.-:)

How many empty? Load of people poorly and cold
No idea, but visible rows/sections in the north stand and the two rows in front of me. I get it’s January and people are unwell (me included), but it’s been like this for quite a few games this season

I think a lot of it is because of the club keeping large amounts of seats just for ticketing websites, which we can’t sell. You only have to look at the corporate sections when we don’t play a top side - half empty

We just don’t have the fanbase like the rags and dippers to take up the slack
I actually think we do have the fanbase - not all the plastics like they have, but long term fans who have been priced out. Against Exeter it will be full. Full of families and people who can’t afford to go regularly.

As above, a lot of these empty seats are seats that are greyed out and assigned to ticket websites. Because we aren’t winning, the glory hunters aren’t buying those seats and proper fans don’t have access.

I also wouldn’t expect long term fans to come running back after getting out of the habit though

Where have all the tourists, glory hunters, and general football fans gone that Soriano & Co have been chasing and prioritising during the last decade of success?

We all said they wouldn’t last when City stopped winning the title and trophies.

Let’s see what Soriano & Co come up with to fill an extra 8000 seats later this year and next season.

One problem is the new ticket rules for transfers. Me and the mrs couldnt make Leeds at short notice but could do nothing about it. (Was going until a couple of hours before the game).Too late to put on the exchange and unable to transfer ticket despite having someone who would have had them. Result - 2 empty seats!!!
