In my opinion, that Leverkusen game has come back to bite the club on the arse in more ways than one. The crowd that night was 50,500 with probably no more than 2,000 Bayer fans.
This was 25th Nov on a dank and cold night. Pep fielded a reserve eleven and if BM is anything to go by, a lot of folks were fuming and basically said fuck midweek games. Now I’m not saying it’s only down to that but you can only piss people off so many times, especially folk who have a long journey, need to take time off work etc etc.

Is our fanbase that fickle?

We got 38,254 for the Quarter Final just before Christmas and Brentford didn't bring many.
We also recorded just over 40,000 when we played Watford in the Carabao Cup last season

Therefore 43,000 with 5000 Newcastle would be par for the course

Yes, it could be incentivised, but price isn't the sole reason for midweek non attendance, and we've got a few condescending posters who need to stop belittling or judging by their own standards

I'll be there, but the Seasoncard holder who sits next to me for the PL games just can't stomach the 90 minute drive for a midweek game, that would take less than an hour on a Saturday

His only alternative is a train but due to the bus replacement service he wouldn't get home until after midnight

My daughter bought me a short break in Liverpool between Christmas and New Year. I stayed in a City Centre hotel. It was literally full of Scandinavians and Irish. Liverpool had two home games in short succession. I knew they had a big overseas following but I was amazed at how many were in this one hotel. Probably could repeat that across others in the city.

They have 50 plus years of constant success. Relatively speaking we’ve had 15 years under this regime. It’s improved but we’re way behind them and the rags for sure

Very true, but City have made it harder for lapsed fans, and potential new fans, to replace those that can't be arsed by having £35 memberships and restrictions on purchases and ticket transfers.

So at £20 a ticket it would have sold out ? Not so sure, it would have helped but £10 is fuck all with travelling parking etc

It’s no longer a pricing issue. The current malaise is now so long down the line and for so many reasons that cutting match ticket prices won’t have much of an impact.

I find it absolutely mind boggling that our senior management have their head in the sand whilst we watch our support slowly evaporate.

The board lost their minds after we won the treble and what should have been a springboard has led to them taking multiple terrible decisions that have really fucked us up.

Not at all. We’ve seen the added interest from “tourist” fans success has brought though. It kinda comes with the territory to a large extent. I genuinely think the club need to incentivise fans to come to CL games as part of the season ticket package. It definitely doesn’t help the atmosphere

I believe most clubs have this in place now...i'm not condoning it but if fans of every club rallied over this we could get it scrapped...won't happen unfortunately...

I think it does and it doesn’t. The so called big games there plenty of tourists, but for games against the likes of Exeter, Newcastle, Brighton or some of the champions league games the tourists aren’t showing up. So we’re relying on locals/ our core fanbase - who already feel alienated or priced out

You don’t think anything is City’s fault. You don’t think charging 80% more than Newcastle did from the 1st leg is affecting sales, you don’t think charging a minimum of £53 for league games is affecting attendances. You don’t think the membership cost of £35 is stopping causal fans from going to the odd game and bumping crowds up. You don’t think the restrictions on ticket transfers is making fans have enough. You don’t think doubling the Salford ticket price is affecting interest.

Is there anything City do you’ll criticise?

You'd like to think that they would have a strategy in place to maintain and grow the fan base. It just seems all over the show at the moment, with various hurdles and obstacles regularly being put in the way.

Agree mate but it would be good to have the stadium full everytime or at least 95% allowing for no shows for different reasons. I think 53/55k is probably as best it’s going to be if the club improved the ticketing and pricing policy.

It has always been the case that people pick and choose games. Very few people attend every match. It’s still (just about) a free country. Very few CL group matches sell out across Europe.

I sat in my usual seat block 111 and was surrounded by Turkish guys.
They were respectful throughout the game. One can only speculate the reaction if they scored.

It could have got unpleasant and possibly violent. I was in your area of the ground for the Celtic game and a few Celts in the distance would have regretted getting carried away.

A home semi final, leading 2 - 0 from the first leg, possibly another visit to the Etihad South, surely this should of sold out easily.

Apathy, boring football, ticket costs, shit transport, atmosphere, £35 membership fees, difficult and confusing ticket policy, 115 charges, constant shit media with club not seemingly fighting our corner, opposition fans in our end, 2 tier security home fans targeted, loyal fans being moved again ( new stand corporate ) food and beverage costs, lack of new younger season ticket card holders to create an atmosphere, lapsed fans not being arsed

For a club that's done so much right it's also got lots wrong.

im not pointing fingers....... but a lot of the recent unpopular decisions by the club seem seem to have happened since Roul De Vries joined the club , but the higher ups have always had a habit of pissing off the fans
