Seat Counters 25/26

I've only ever been wrong once
Good Friday 1977
I said it would rain and it didn't

lol. Good post.

I have changed my mind on this sort of topic FWIW. I had a laissez faire attitude towards away fans in our stand as most behaved themselves. The lad getting a badly broken leg vs Leeds has changed my opinion and we need to pack our stands with Blues or take the ribbing about empty seats.

1000s of 30£ tiks available and same for the 15£ under 18s. i think thats excellent value for a semi final...cheaper for S/T holders and members. im no seat counter, but my brief look tells me there will be a much lower attendance than the gala game....were shifting about 10 tiks a day !!

I started going in ‘74. From then until 2010 (36 years) we played in 4 semi finals and 4 finals (including the ‘81 replay).

From 2010 to now (16 years) we’ve played 37 semi final / finals (League Cup FA Cup Champ League)

I’d have given my left testicle in the ‘90s to see a quarter final. Now, for most fans, it’s pretty much a shrug of the shoulders.

I didn’t do the away leg at Newcastle- couldn’t quite believe I didn’t - but it didn’t hold quite the same kudos / importance it once would to me.

We’ve been saturated with success. I genuinely believe the club could give the tickets away for free and we still wouldn’t fill the ground. Our hard core is pretty much 30-35k.

I can’t ever imagine not being at a home game, I fucking love it. But I think we’re kidding ourselves if we think we can ever sell out week in week out with the number of games we play, no matter how cheap.

To be honest I'd completely forgotten all about that, and in fairness, you wouldn't have known that I know "Bobbyowenquiff" personally, which might have made my original post look more glib than I intended.

As regards away fans in the home end, we're probably not that far apart.

One of my best mates has been an Everton Season Ticket Holder since the late 70s and whenever he doesn't qualify for a ticket for the away end at the ETIHAD, I get him a ticket for my block
I also got 93:20 tickets for three of his mates for the LC Semi Final, and none of them said a word, even when Everton scored first. They all respected the fact that I'd gone of my way to help them.

That's how it should be, but obviously it doesn't always work out like that.

I just think that the club needs to employ more "streetwise" City fans who can review tickets and hospitality on a match-by-match basis.
Currently, it's being run by post graduates with marketing degrees, who are more focused on meeting revenue targets whilst ignoring the lary behaviour from drunken obnoxious guests with strange accents, who seem to know far more too much about City's opponents

I would ban United and Liverpool from the home ends, and probably Chelsea, Leeds and Tottenham, who just can't be trusted.

I would be more flexible with the other clubs, depending on the importance and timing of the game

There should also be an opportunity for supporters to approach and engage, if for example we're playing Birmingham in the FA Cup and there's a Birmingham fan who lives locally and all his mates support City

On a related note, I've just booked some cheap flights and intend watching Leverkusen v Olympiacos in the CL Play Offs and then AZ Alkmaar in the Euro Conference Play Offs.

At Leverkusen I'll be a tourist and a neutral, but also a Member with a buying history from previous seasons.
Which brings me back to why Galatasaray was always going to be an awkward one-off

Three main groups of issues I think are involved.

1. Infrastructure issues that the club can’t control such as shit tram service, lack of nearby parking etc
2. Apathy from fans not helped by virtually every game shown live, never ending changing kick off times etc. we won’t know time of West Ham game until two weeks before.
3. The club being arses over ticket pricing, sales criteria etc, employing muppets in the ticket office, working with third party resellers, employing stewards who think they can assault and treat fans like shit etc

If they can sort point three out and start reconnecting with fans that would be a start.

Lots of opportunities missed to grow our fanbase. The new stand will be another one. You love going to the game, me too. It should be an easy sell for a successful premier league club.

We used to do it via seasoncard waiting lists, but now the club says they will contact people. Its difficult to assess how successful that will be.

My daughter bought me a short break in Liverpool between Christmas and New Year. I stayed in a City Centre hotel. It was literally full of Scandinavians and Irish. Liverpool had two home games in short succession. I knew they had a big overseas following but I was amazed at how many were in this one hotel. Probably could repeat that across others in the city.
Just to add, spoke to this Irish lad, he was doing both games with his two sons. The ticket for him was £56 a game but £10 each a game for his sons

Just seen this Facebook post of the League Cup results and attendances from October 29th 1985.

Anfield makes interesting reading when we're constantly told that they'll always be a bigger attraction

The following night at Maine Road:
Manchester City 1 Arsenal 2 18,279

I was sat in the North Stand and Arsenal brought around a thousand maximum

Ban the sale of half and half scarfs. It create problems inside the ground. Replace the independent merchandisers with City pop-up stores that only sell City stuff.

Edit. I should have put this in the other thread but never mind.
Am not fan of half and half scarfs.
But when a 8 year is attending his or her first ever City match. I totally understand buying a programme and scarf with the details of that match.
