Seat Counters 25/26

£40 for a Wembley semi-final. It ain’t dear. I paid more to sit in my usual seat for the 6th round against the dippers. Choo-choo there and back from Piccadilly about £100. More than ideal. But I save far more than that living in the land of Joseph Holts pubs.

Of our 20+ trips to Wembley in the last 15 years, this will be just my third. One win, one defeat, so far. I’ve got 18+ reasons for not having gone to any of the others, but I’m doing this one, and I can’t wait.

I’m in my late 50s. Think of someone my age going to the League Cup final in ‘76, watching us win, and going back 5 years later after Allison v2.0, twice, then seeing out their declining years watching Frank Clark and Steve Coppell and Alan Ball and Stuart Pearce and thinking, Will I Ever See Us Win Anything Ever Again?

This could be the last time. There’s no reason to believe it will be, but there wasn’t in ‘76. I’d say by the time John Bond arrived the writing was on the wall that this could be a long wait.

Everyone’s got their reasons for not going who’s not going. But if you’re thinking that there’ll always be another time - just remember that there might not be.

If we get to the final very little chance of me getting a ticket so like before I do semis for definite. Making a weekend of it. Game, Tracy Emin exhibition and visit my brother in North London. Expensive yes but as the saying goes "memento mores.....memento vivre"
These games are my season highlights. My Manchester City experience has been extraordinary. Are we about to experience a most unlikely domestic treble? If we beat Arsenal tomorrow, or even draw, that dream will survive.

They say the laws of physics break down at a singularity. Dickov did that at Wembley 27 years ago. And then Aguero did it again 13 years later. Another 13 years are about to pass, and I want to see it all unfold. Perhaps it will unravel before I get there but I want to dream. It's called simulated reality.

I can understand people wanting us to sell out Wembley everytime we go, however any anger directed at fans is completely misplaced.

We've been so successful recently and have such a massive supporter base in Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas, however the club hasn't looked after these people, and as a result we're not selling games like we should be.

So yes, you can be annoyed that we're not selling out Wembley, but the blame lies with the Club, not individual match going fans.
BORING !!

Im sorry.i say it as it is..embarrasing if we only bring 21k..absolutly shocking

Quite a bit of money to come out of your budget.
I appreciate everyone will not have done that ,but people have to prioritise in this day and age.
It is so easy to attack people, perhaps they dont have the cash available.
If you are lucky to be able to go,just go and enjoy it,what others choose to do is nothing to do with you or I.

Yes but thousands haven't been to all those games. It's a chance for fans who won't have the chance to get a final ticket can go to Wembley.

They are not going to go, the selling criteria is outdated it's a safety net not to attend and a deterrent to those who would go if there was a reward at the end of it. The club needs to change the whole set up to the fa cup in the future, like Liverpool do, it rewards attending

Perhaps its not as important to them, as it is to you and I.
As my last paragraph in my original post said, which you kindly missed off, people have choices to make, to them Southampton is not number 1 priority, when they believe rightly or wrongly they will be going again in 4 weeks.

Do you think that would make a difference.
Around me there are a group of season ticket holders who are on every cup scheme and attend the cup matches but never go to Wembley or away cup matches.
Odd I know, but they have their reasons.
I also season ticket holders around me who only attend league matches.
Everyone is different and make their own choices.
Weird to me,but then again they might think I'm weird for following my team everywhere.

I hope you enjoy your trip and a great day.

However the £40 ticket and £100 on the train is looking through the lens of the cost for one person.

It is dear for a family of 4 for a semi final especially if we win then have to shell out for the final.

£140 plus food and drink costs is actually pretty expensive for quite a lot of people, including me.

That doesn’t include if you’re paying for a kid or family member either.

Well said. Too many armchair critics on here. What people choose to do is their own business.

Fair comment. But you can get train split tickets for much less than £100. Sharing a car and doing park and ride from the London suburbs can be cheaper than some home matches. I got a hotel in Mk for less than £50 booked early. But I’m lucky because I’m retired and can be flexible on travel.

Liverpool give priority to those who attend cup games, if the semi final carried some reward to final tickets I guarantee loads more would sell, and so they should

We have a cup scheme tho which I’m on, I’ve done all the previous rounds but not doing the semi final

And those that travelled with you everywhere but never ever got to see the full 90 minutes. Ever. (And quite often never actually making it into the ground.) Mr G Carr.
