Seat Counters 25/26

Having watched the Ultras scene in Scotland series, I think we could do with a group of young ultras at the back of the expanded North Stand
Talking of Scotland , got in after the match on Wednesday and was watching the highlights of the Rangers game on sky sports news ,
The caption at the start had the attendance on as being 50,000 + !

If there was 30000 there I would be making it up !
Not having a go a Rangers , I’m sure the empties were season tickets holders who no showed now they are out of the title race , but compare that to the shit we get for a couple of thousand at most who was missing at our game for probably similar reasons ?

It’s the only stick they the media have got left to beat us with and tbf it’s not even true !

The crowd against palace I thought was decent , u always get empties at night games from season card holders who cannot make it all the time ?

It's funny if our capacity was 45,000 and full every week ,we would be great fans, but we get 50,000 now and we are shit fans.
This is quite true TBH, although saying that, there'd still be a percentage who wouldn't show and of course the high percentage of early leavers and the half time drinkers who go to the bar after 35 mins.

If our stadium held 20,000 we could say we had a huge waiting list.

The stadium will struggle to sell out the majority of the matches next season in my opinion BUT I’m looking forward to our biggest attendances since when.. the 1930’s?

Unfortunately not,we used to get 63000 in the ground in the middle to late 60s.
Everton in 1966 and probably a couple of United matches until they reduced the capacity to 60000
See above post

I genuinely think that at the correct price we can sell a 62,000 seat stadium for every single game. We certainly have the fanbase in and around Manchester.

Unfortunately though, that would take something fairly radical from the club, I don't think they're willing to do that.

They clearly aren't. The whole opportunity offered by the new stand has been lost and City are now forever going to be branded as the "Empty Seat Club" worldwide. A lot of that comes from the introduction of memberships and swapping restrictions since the treble and it's pretty much irreversible now.

it's reversable

I'm not sure the image/reputation is. It's reached a crescendo now and I think has become a self-fulfilling prophesy. It's affecting our fan growth.
Our highest ever average attendance in a season is 54,219. If we beat that next season I’m taking it that things are going in the right direction despite all our mistakes with tickets and stands and what our rivals say.

Also bear in mind 99% of our supporters/followers are now non uk based.

To an extent. You can revert back to how things were previously, but the damage has been done and I imagine a lot of people that got alienated by it all will have now sacked it off altogether.

If ticket prices come down and people don't need memberships to be transferred tickets from mates then people will soon come back.

The FA Cup games have sold so well, the fan base is there. But kick off times and days make a huge difference to our fans so pricing and transfer of tickets are essential.

Some certainly will. There is also some that certainly won't.

People get out the habit of going, some have picked up a new hobby instead, others don't miss it as much as they thought they would etc. Lots of other reasons too.

I know a few former season ticket holders that don't go at all anymore. The whole 10 game in person criteria was absolutely nonsense, if the dippers and rags don't even have that criteria with more demand it was complete idiocy to impose it on us. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
