Seat Counters 25/26

The teams who have a strong case to say they are better supported than us are the rags, dippers and arse. We are a match for anyone else in the Prem.

Sunday blew the doors off the season card hoarders who attend a few big games and claimed they weren’t blocking families / friends getting tickets together in the ground. That was stunting the growth of our match going support just like the harmful ticket agencies. It’s no surprise that we can sell over 60k of tickets when Blues get the chance to sit with mates and family.

I hadnt realised until Sunday the importance of families being able to sit together.
Mrs Asa and I are often in seats that are apart, and it does not worry us.( me anyway).

On Sunday, in the North Stand there were so many families, many not English sat near me, they were City fans ,as I heard them joining in with the simpler chants.

How is it possible to cater for this though without having gaps, and unsold tickets.?

Only the elite seat counter could solve that connundrum.

The way to solve this would be to sell thousands of new season tickets instead of limiting them to people who already go every week anyway.

Once the dust is settled on this very special season we all need to be thinking about the Seat Counters End of Season Awards.

Seat Count of the season
Young Seat Counter of the season.
Shit Counter of the season
And of course the big one, the much coveted Seat Counter of the Season Award.

I think we should use this occasion to start a Seat Counter’s Hall of Fame, too.
Seat Count of the season could be interesting.

Natural instinct would be to go for one of the Wembley seat counts, but there've been a few decent counts all season. Madrid, Liverpool FA Cup and Salford all spring to mind

Yes, but most sat around me in the Pep stand would not be buying season tickets.
Around me were a Norwegian family, Chinese family (i presumed), a Croatian family, and some Italians, others who I could not identify.
If families cannot buy tickets together they probably would not attend, Sunday was a one off as there were 7000 tickets up for grabs.
I don't know the answer but I do think all alternatives have positives and negatives
Card , holders, match goers, and casual fans would all have different ideas.
The club will be criticised whatever, I imagine.

My Seat Count of the Season was the ARsenal final because it supassed expectations.
Disappointment of the Season was probably Southampton as we'd been lulled into a false sense of security.

If they want groups to come to one offs, or several games a season, they should drop the ridiculous membership requirement, or make a membership count for the whole family (or +3 or whatever). But that one's about revenue unfortunately. Allocate a whole section of the North Stand as matchday tickets only maybe.

Arsenal was absolute car crash seat counting at its finest, my head was spinning by the end.

For me the Chelsea FA Cup final was an absolute classic from start to finish.

My disappointment of the season was Newcastle Away in the League cup where the club got it on sale to members 5 days before the game!

Having away fans sat near me is not an issue in for me, but remember the outcry by many softies on here when there is an away fan sat near them.
That is why membership is needed, as i said no system would suit all.
I would agree 35 quid is too much to register an interest in going to the odd game.

I don't believe that the membership scheme is to stop away fans. It;s purely an attempt to generate money.

There aren't many games where away fans could infiltrate. They should just put membership as a pre-requisite for them, not for bloody Bournmouth or Slavia Prague on a Wednesday night.

Agree. Everything is about raising money now!

Rat Boy's debut was a different game a few years later - a UEFA Cup match against Torpedo Moscow in September 1992. Attendance? 19,998

The Wimbledon game in 1989 where only 23,000 or so turned up is an interesting one. If you go on YouTube for the highlights there are United fans on there who reckon the true attendance was as low as 15,000. This was because they apparently counted non-attending season ticket holders in the crowd figure, something that is commonplace these days but wasn't really a thing back then. I was at the Palace home game the day before and if anything, the 33,000 crowd was well on the low side. From memory, the whole stadium was relatively packed apart from the Platt Lane where the Palace fans were but even so, they brought a good few thousand as both of us were going for promotion. I reckon there were more like 36k-37k in the ground at least so with Swales doing his usual and under-estimating our attendance and Edwards over-estimating United's the following evening, the true difference between the 2 attendances was nearer 20,000 than 10,000.
Yes you are correct re Ratboy, my bad, sands of time.

Re Wimbledon I remember that being said at the time about it including season ticket holders that didnt rock up.

Serious question this.
For those professional seat counters that we have here on Bluemoon that are not going away on holiday.
What now fills the gap without any seats to count ????

Why don’t we fill our seats / stands with Blues rather than being desperate for away fans in our end. I had to laugh that some people consider themselves to be hard men because they want away fans in our stands.

Membership is not needed. They have everyone's purchase history going back 20+ years. Easy to differentiate between long standing City fans and away fans without the need for a Membership
