Well said, I totally agree with every word. I personally didn't go this time because of how shit Turin was last time.

My wife is a tiny, God bothering pacifist who was basically strip searched because she complained about the theft.
When she then disagreed with their search methods they told her to shut up or they wouldn't give her her ticket back and she wouldn't get in.

So it seems that all laws go out of the window when entering the search zone. You can abuse individuals and if they exercise their right of complaint they are thrown out without redress.

Looks like there have been some inconsistencies then. I never got my photo taken - they just checked my passport to see if the name matched my ticket. The search was conducted swiftly and professionally, and I found the stewards and police pretty helpful and courteous.

I'm still disgusted at the treatment of my wife, it was far from curteous or helpful, and I might add she is in her mid fifties!

I had two friends who were denied entry because the steward 'claimed' they had doctored their ticket, which was untrue as they got heir tickets through their Supporters Club branch. They were told to wait outside for over an hour. They then took their photos and allowed them entry after the game had started.
Personally I think that is disgraceful behaviour but If you think that is helpful and curteous then we live in different spheres.

I'm still disgusted at the treatment of my wife, it was far from curteous or helpful, and I might add she is in her mid fifties!

I had two friends who were denied entry because the steward 'claimed' they had doctored their ticket, which was untrue as they got heir tickets through their Supporters Club branch. They were told to wait outside for over an hour. They then took their photos and allowed them entry after the game had started.
Personally I think that is disgraceful behaviour but If you think that is helpful and curteous then we live in different spheres.

I'd probably feel the same way as you had I, or someone I was with, been subjected to that kind of hassle too.

As I said, sounds like there were some inconsistencies on the gate.

we turned up without passports but with other id. we were out all day and didnt want to loose something so valuable. We did same in rome and napoli and had no problem - juve was much more security conscious. 9 of us in total, 8 lower tier and 1 upper. All 8 lower got in, the city steward was superb - had photos taken etc. My mate on upper didnt get in, wasnt offered photo told nothing could be done. Given all 9 arrived at same time, why the inconsistancy?
Regarding the searches, i complained because they knicked my travel maps and printouts of 'things to do' - they said i could set fire to them. I complained and endured a 10 minute search / hold back. Shoes off, socks off, undo belt, coat off etc.
so well done city steward in lower tier, but why could same not happen in upper?

As for Turin - we were there 2 days and had a ball. Did a walking tour (em pub craw!!) of the city on the thursday and really enjoyed it.

Yeah but if them Smints ever got in the wrong hands someone could get seriously hurt you know, that's why they put them big Perspex screens between fans to stop people getting minted to death.

Never got my photo taken on the way in. But had to take my shoes off & they were thrown to the side. Not given them back until I was frisked & had to hold my sweatshirt up. It was bloody freezing. I could'nt get my feet warm until I got home. Those Juve fans were a couple of rows behinds us & when they scored one of them a girl. Kept doing the wanker sign to us. Couple of City fans approached them & one took a Juve hat off a fan & threw it. My lad says thanks he wears it at work. The stewards looked like they did'nt want to know. Also seen the two lads in the Chelsea tracksuits. My lad pointed them out to me. Won't be going there again. For a new ground it was shit. Only sold ham butties & coffee. Asked for a hot chocolate & he got a bar of chocolate out. Would be so easy to kick off. By the time stewards had gotten in those 5 or 6 juve fans would have been half dead. The only good thing were the free buses to the ground.

The security was a bit over the top, although perhaps not surprising after the Paris attacks. Thought the police were pretty unfriendly from the moment we landed in Turin though. Keeping us stood outside in the freezing cold for an hour after the game seemed a bit unnecessary too.

They pulled the same stunt when we played them over there 5 years ago, kept us locked in behind huge metal doors and when they did decide to let us out opened the smallest one possible causing an unneccesary crush.

I remember going to one of the aways, I think it was Greece, and we were kept waiting after the match for about an hour and I was so desperate for the toilet that I eventually pushed my way through the police and just kept saying toilet, toilet.................... as I rushed for the stairs I kept expecting a rugby tackle from behind by one of them!!!

That would be Thesaloniki. It's strange that the further south you go in Europe the less civilized they seem to be and the less civilized they think you are!!!!!

That would be Thesaloniki. It's strange that the further south you go in Europe the less civilized they seem to be and the less civilized they think you are!!!!!

I did report it to Manchester City and said I don't object to them keeping us in if that is necessary but it's against our human rights not to be able to access the toilet facilities. Plus they were two floors below where we were anyway!! I've never experienced it again, thank goodness.

Sorry to hear about your experience but I had the exact polar opposite with my mrs. My frisk was pretty standard, as was hers. She handed over her bag to be searched, forgetting we'd bought a metal hip-flask of Grappa at a bar earlier, which was gift wrapped. The female steward asked her what it was, she said a present "please don't open it", the steward shrugged her shoulders, put it back in her bag and waved us in. I was absolutely sure it was going to be confiscated, but it wasn't.

Let me tell you, that Grappa tasted like the nectar of the Gods watching the game in the freezing cold, nectar of the Gods I tell yer..
