Security

You'd have thought City would have studied how other clubs, sometimes with many more fans, manage to do this quicker and safely. It's disappointing that they haven't found a suitable solution yet.

I honestly do not understand why people going to games at City need to take their weekly shopping through the turnstiles.
Yes I understand buying things from the City store, two things though, how about doing this after the game if you plan on buying bulk, or crazy thought do it online, try the items on in store then buy it online.
Saw it far too many times last season going into the stands people with backpacks and carrier bags full of stuff. What are they bringing? Weekly shop from Asda? In my opinion there should be a one bag limit, with a size limit agreed between the club, the club security and fans groups. In a similar way that airlines operate with carry on luggage.

To be honest going into the south stand as a man each pat down/wanding last season on myself took about 5-10 seconds but for the crazy people with the weekly shop each one of them was holding the queues up for upto a minute its ridiculous. I do not blame the club i blame the kids for a fiver fans and the day trippers.

My personal thoughs on the security hold ups make me fear an attack on the queuing masses outside the gate oppose to an attack inside the stadium.

For some, the earlier they get to the game the earlier they will want to leave!

im not sure how a terrorists thinks but being a regular Joe i would say there is more chance of an attack outside the stadium than in and the danger areas would be the que's the main roads after the game and pubs such as Mary Ds before the game, as the other poster says a fence with loads of turnstyles would be ideal then to actually enter the ground you would use the existing turnstyles so in effect you would have to swipe twice to gain entry

No jibbing as you are already in the new outer concourse outside the stadium

You didn't read the email did you?

All bags will be subject to searches prior to stadium entry. Please only carry what you feel is necessary as bags larger than 16.5 x 12 x 6.5 inches will not be permitted.

Must admit that when I received the email I initially thought it would just be the standard "please arrive early " messsge. It was fortuitous that i read it in detail. Expect plenty of fans in the wrong queue with oversized bags

You caught me! Nope I didnt read it because I get inside the ground about 45 mins before kick off straight out of Mary Ds into M1 with no queues and have a pint or 3 before kick off with ma pals upstairs. So queing problems have only really been a problem for me for early games or when the away team doesnt bring fans and they fill the section next to me with randoms and kids for a fiver who dont have a clue what entrance they are in and bring the weeks shopping with them. We shall see this season if anything changes and people actually get some common fucking sense.

I would like your opinion on why people feel compelled to bring so many bags with them for a football match!
