Seeing games out

Last season we made an art form out of this when a game was tight. Erling, Jack, Foden, Silva would all toy the oppo and win corner after corner.
Why can’t we do it this season? Lack of intensity/complacency or is it the new rules where there’s 10 mins of fucking injury time every match that makes this difficult?
Whatever we’ve gone from the masters of running down the clock to headless chickens that give away great chances and pens at the death!

Seems like complancy or after an incredible season a regression to the means, and it could be, but mostly just a down swing in form, every team has one now and then, I'm sure Pep will sort it out. He has form there. While it's a bit of Tin pot cup, winning the World Club cup would give the team a much needed boost I reckon. It's coming at the perfect time for us.

Basic game management: pretend to be injured, take an age over a throw in, take it to the corner, pass sideways.

Seems obvious game management stuff, especially for a team that’s won a treble, but apparently not.

It's all about basics.

Not replacing departing players with those of equal calibre.

Ederson is a great keeper for Pep's style of play but prone to basic errors.

Our shots : goals conceded stats are terrible.

Foul throws... At elite level???

Playing a centre back as a LB/ winger?

Not using substitutes, or introducing them too late in the game.

We have the best in the business at seeing games out for years. What's gone wrong?

It's down to basic coaching and game management.

Its down to our dumb arse manager who would rather have a million passes and win 1 nil

We dont take teams to the cleaners any more , apart from Bournemouth we have struggled to put games to bed , we lost over thirty goals by selling Gundo and Mahrez and replace them with Nunez (one goal last season) and Kovacic (zero goals last season). We are also being punished for every error this season and quite sure we were last season the difference is we were a few goals in front and it didnt matter.
If we do not cut out the basic errors its going to be a long hard slog to another title.

The reason we're "seeing games out" is all down to not moving the ball quick enough in final third. Today had 5-0 written all over it, but then we're hanging on at the end. Got to put those chances away more too.

Take another 10 goals and multiple assists out for KDB missing as well.

My take on it is every club except City now fully utilise the 5 available subs to their advantage.

The last 10 minutes yesterday were embarrassing. We were so leggy and lethargic compared to a physically strong and athletic Palace with their 5 subs on.

We used to cruise at the end of games as the opposition were blowing out their arses. Now it’s us with no subs on in the 90 Mins.

The onus seems to be on us to attack, even at 2 up late in a game.
There was no pressure at all when we had the ball in our half from a single palace player at times yesterday.
We could have knocked it around for ages.
Fuckinell, Rube could of sat on it if he fancied.
Wouldn't be the most exciting spectacle, but...
