and is holding back at the moment

The saga of his future is, however, becoming a cloud over City they could do without, dominating the news throughout their pre-season stay in Los Angeles even though he had not been with them since being persuaded, with the threat of a fine, to take part in the club's end‑of‑season FA Cup trophy parade.

Kompany's conduct is in stark contrast, although the Belgium international was unwilling to speculate about the possibility of supplanting Tevez as captain. "Until there is an actual signature and it is confirmed he [Tevez] is not a Manchester City player any more, I don't have to comment. What I do know is that the group will be stronger next season, with or without him. Whether he stays or goes, it won't change what we want to achieve. The goals remain the same."

Kompany is a model professional. If he had any disagreement over Tevez, it would have been voiced privately.

He's a trustworthy player who always have the club in mind.

I won't be surprised if there is a few pissed off individuals... Tevez has been a pain in the arse since the day Mancini walked through the door. He handed in a transfer request last year and then when the club wouldn't accept it, he shut the hell up and somehow walked back into the side as the captain for our FA cup final.

So I expect there are a few players who are abit cheesed off, however, I doubt they will speak openly about it.

Reading between the lines it does seem that Kompany isn't too happy with Tevez thou, and along with the Mario, Barry and Milner comments that are emerging then it does all look that none of the players are too keen to embrace Carlos back into the dressing room, and certainly not as captain anymore. He does seem to have lost a huge amount of the players respect.

Although he didn't show for the parade, there is evidence in Micahs diary that Mario is hugely liked amongst the squad

Kompany may aswell have been born with 'Captain' tattooed on his ample-sized forehead. Still think of that Wembley-Cam against United when he leads the team out to warm up. He has the look and aura of a captain which Tevez never has had. I more than appreciate what Tevez has done for us and wish him well wherever he ends up next, (unless it's Chelsea), but one thing I will never understand is why we gave him the captaincy just to please him. I might be wrong, but I would imagine that went down like a ton of bricks in the dressing room because it's obvious that was one of the selling points, 'join us and we will make you captain'. Course there are captains all over the pitch, if you excuse the cliche, but the guy speaks little English, is obviously all about himself and is anything but a captain. Just seemed we licked a little bit too much arse there. Course, I may be wrong in he is the most influential person in the dressing room, but I doubt it.

Kompany is everything of a captain Tevez is not.

Couldn't agree more with that entire post.
