Self-employed & Coronavirus

I'm been self employed for the last 5yrs and how do I go about claiming the monthly payment? Sorry just not clued up in all of this!

The people that used to slag off people on benefits for moaning it was hard to live are now moaning they cant live on universal credit

If you pay into the system and you fall on hard times you still end on benefits, that is the reality of it,harsh but it is the same for everyone

call me dave did a great job turning workers on th ose on benefits

perhaps people will more understanding of each others lives after this

if i still had my business i would think these announced measures are pretty fair considering, everyone is going to take a hit, everyone
Fair point about people who have a business or loose there jobs and end up on benefits..but theres thousands who have never had a job .
Never contributed to anything and benefits is a way if life.
Yet they still moan about it

Unveiling the measures at a Downing Street news conference, the chancellor said the scheme was open to anyone with trading profits of up to £50,000.

Rishi Sunak said the support for those affected by the coronavirus crisis would be in place for at least three months and amounted to "one of the most generous packages in the world"

But it will only be available to those who make the majority of their income from self-employment and who filed a tax return for 2019.

This would ensure only the "genuinely self-employed" benefit from the scheme and minimise the risk of fradusters applying for help, Mr Sunak added.

Scheme up and running "no later" than the beginning of June

Just being set up so instructions to follow

Are you an accountant for a lot of small businesses then mate? My accountants have hundreds of 1 man bands on their books and so far the information they have provided is very vague indeed, probably because the information they are getting from the government is far from crystal

More a bookkeeper for a lot of small businesses though I do accounts for some sole traders.

I have to disagree with this as it’s all about lifestyle, people who earn more and have done so for a period of time usually have the outgoings to match. This hasn’t happened in over a century, in fact even then business didn’t stop like this. It’s totally unprecedented and you can’t have a go at people for being comfortable on their earnings when something like this comes along and means they can’t afford it.

You can't possibly kow why any single person is on benefits, everyone has their own story,i don't want to turn this thread down that track to much but i hope people will be more tolerant and understanding of everyone elses situations when this is over, intolerant people are now finding themselves in the position that many others have to deal with
