Self-employed & Coronavirus

When I set up my business I was advised to do it as a limited company. Sadly there’s virtually no support for directors of small limited companies.

Did you not apply for the Business Bounce Back loan available to Limited Companies? If it's still available do so as it will keep you going. No repayments for 12 months and now payable over 10 years. Very low interest as well.

I didn’t agree with the 2.5k a month max furlough scheme, thought it was too high. With mortgage breaks and other measures that could be brought in I would like to see a standard figure. Just wondering what the wealthier thought really.
£300 a week for every working adult.

Yeah, I took one out at the beginning and have been largely living off that for the last few months. Not quite sure how/when I’ll be able to pay it back, but that’s a worry for another day. Seemed like a no-brainer given the low interest rate.

been really unlucky with this.
Two years ago i was renting my unit from the council. i would have got free rent for 6 months, even if i could open, and 10k cash.
The council 'gave' the running of the building to a 'charity' 18 months ago. Yesterday i had to pay over a grand in back rent for the lockdown period. And no 10k as under the deal my landlord and all units in the building have no business rate liability.

Nah, those currently on benefits simply stay the same.

It's not how it would work though mate. UBI is for everyone and if you then work on top then all power to you. You can't give someone UBI and then have them also claim welfare payments imo.

Why not if you are going to give it to Philip Green, Lewis Hamilton and Raheem Sterling?
