record signing Robinho believes a transfer to Barcelona could make him the best player in the world.
The Brazil star, who joined the Eastlands club from Real Madrid for £34million on September 1, 2008, has been heavily linked with a move back to Spain since failing to live up to his whopping transfer fee at City.
The 26-year-old is sidelined with a stress fracture to his foot and back in his homeland recuperating.
It is there, in Brazil, that the forward spoke to a radio station about Barcelona's reported interest in signing him.
Robinho said: 'I'm very happy for the interest that Barcelona have shown in me because playing in the Nou Camp is much easier to be the best player in the world than to do so at City.'
The former Real and Santos star appears not to have a problem with Manchester City boss Mark Hughes but he is clearly attracted to a move to the Nou Camp.
'I'm not trying to force my departure from England, and I have no problem with my coach,' Robinho added in an interview with Brazilian station Radio Bandeirantes.
'I'm going through a good moment, my level of football had a drop in performance. I'm very aware that I have to improve and I think now is the time when I explode.'
Robinho also stressed that he would not rush back from injury until he was certain there would be no relapses as he does not want to risk missing next summer's World Cup finals.
He added: 'I have to exploit my game at the World Cup. It would not be worth pushing myself now and then doing nothing at the World Cup. My recovery has to go step by step.'
