The fact that we have to go back to mostly before colour TV tells you everything really.
But I'll give you Greavsie, you git. So, I'll qualify my OP by saying that Sergio Agüero is the best pure striker this league has seen since Jimmy Greaves. Certainly the best the PL has ever seen.

I think Aguero and Greaves do have a lot in common. Greaves was famous for placing his shots (not blasting them). In fact I think the first time I heard the phrase "passed it into the net" was about him. I thought he was bloody fantastic, even the time we lost 5-1 at home to West Ham in his final years. The way Sergio stroked in that goal yesterday was just like Greaves. Brilliant to watch.
It'd be great to see him hit 30 in all competitions.
33, 30, 32 in his last 3 seasons.
His next goal will be his 100th under Pep.
