According to wiki, Rooney scored 253 goal in 599 appearances - the page is maintained by United supporters so I presume it to be correct and therefor that the Mighty Kun is indeed the most prolific ever scorer of goals for a team with ‘Manchester’ in their name (united haven’t played a home game in Manchester since they played at Maine Road after the theatre of hilarity was bombed by philanthropic German bombers during WW2).

My research today found that Aguero has now scored 264 goals for City compared to
Rooneys 263 for Utd.
I can find nothing in the media to confirm this

According to Transfermarkt it's 257 to 253 in Aguero's favour (255 to 252 if we ignore Community Shield goals).

So it seems Aguero's actually been ahead for quite a while, having overtaken him in the 2-2 vs Palace last year.

At least 14 months according to the media.
