Saw his brief interview with Henry on Sky where he talks about GJ and his own future at the club. He said something along the lines of wanting to crack on until the end of the season. Never mentioned next season or beyond.

This has been his way of communication throughout the year basically. Will be an interesting summer, but I still sort of think (and hope) that he stays.

I still think there's a good chance he will go in the summer. So much of our play was breaking down when he got the ball as over and over again he ran down blind alleys when he had perfectly good options available to him. I just think that is the opposite of everything Pep wants from his players. I don't want to criticise him, he has been fantastic for us and I love the guy but working harder or not, I just don't think he is what Pep wants.
And sterling and sane weren't running down blind alleys? Pep may not want him but he's just scored 12 games on the bounce. I'm sure someone else will and I fear we will regret letting our greatest ever striker go.

I'm not suggesting that he isn't a fantastic player, he is. I just think Pep probably wants someone who can be involved in the build up play better than him. Sane and Sterling both ran at their fullbacks and got tackled on plenty of occasions but I don't remember too many occasions where they had great options to play people in and just ran at people with their heads down. Not saying it didn't happen but I certainly don't remember it if they did. Whereas I remember at least a couple of occasions where I thought Sergio could have played someone in for a one on one and just ran into defenders instead. Added to that that he doesn't seem to be running in behind himself as much as he did, possibly due to losing a half a yard of pace. As I said, I love the guy but I wonder whether we should cash in on him now while we would still get a hefty wedge for him and replace him with someone who will fit this rather specific style of football a bit better. I am increasingly thinking Griezmann would be a much better fit but who knows? But I don't doubt he will continue to score lots of goals next season whether he stays with us or goes elsewhere.

So Sergio is now officially the second best Man City goalscorer, and is on track to end the season with his best ever tally for us. By the summer he could be just a handful of goals away from being the best. I don't see him leaving, being that close to such a record.
