Sergio Aguero - 2016/17 performances

Yes it is. Sergio is a player whose primary function is to score goals and assist others to do the same. I find it difficult to see how he is not doing that and if i had to quantify it I would say he is 95% successful. If many of the other team members performed their primary roles at a level of 95% I would be ecstatic and City would be above Chelsea. In most things in life the goal is usually to optimize not maximize.

Who said he is not doing that?

And what other players do is irrelevant to Sergio making the most of his ability in the context that I am talking about.

I've watched Aguero from his Atleti days and wanted him at City long before he was ever linked. He looked to have the potential to be the best player in the world but things got Messi on that front. He perhaps didn't have quite as much potential as I thought but he still had more than most and he is better than most at what he does but I believe he still has unfulfilled potential and I'd like him to prove that at City.

Optimisie v maximise - way to try and sound clever.

Surely that is the point ?

Optimize - do a team job.
Maximize - do what your best at, and ignore the team ethic.

Last night he did the team job, it won't stop him scoring goals, it might even make him score more goals.

Not really: maximising your potential in a team game is about making the best contribution that you can to the team.

Com'n, the whole point surely is that this was another big step in the direction of altering his game to suit the demands of his manager, who was visibly delighted with it.

Sergio is a talented player who really hasn't maximised on his potential, despite his achievements, so he can still develop as a player if he wants to and make the most of his natural gifts.

Kun probably knows he's got to produce performances like this & score 30 goals a season to stay in the team.

What a player that will be. Tevez mk 2 !!

Well you could say both are the same then, either way I don't understand how anyone can think that his performance last night wasn't better for the team, whether or not he scored, and as I said, what he did last night could well see him score more, not less. Messi doesn't score every game, but he always does hard work for the team, and sets others up, it hasn't stopped him scoring goals.
