What’s he doing that Sam Lee isn’t?
In my opinion, Jose Alvarez is much more given to making inflammatory statements regarding players, negotiations, and other operations at some of the worst times to do so (some of it could be read as him intentionally attempting to influence outcomes, whether successfully or not, perhaps at the behest of players).
As frustrating as Sam Lee can be, his reporting has rarely been immflamatory from a timing and subject matter standpoint (and is very seldom the first source of such information, unlike Alvarez).
I think a lot of what he says is not true, but that is not the concern—if the last few years have taught us anything it is that “truth” is now whatever anyone wants it to be (frighteningly so), which means people like this have quite a lot of power these days.
Anyway, should get back on Sergio so this post is not removed for irrelevancy.
I think he played well yesterday—he contributed to our pressing, consistently made great runs, and finished a plum to settle things down. I hope he continues that effort for the rest of the season.
