Really is a shame Samp is going down but it’s the nature of the business. Someone has to.

Empoli confirmed their survival with their draw against Sampdoria last night. Likely they could finish in the same position as last year, 14th, but it will be interesting to see what happens to their young midfielder, Tomasso Baldanzi. He's only 20 but has broken into the U21 squad and has already caught the eye of the big clubs. Reminds me of Bernardo Silva in that the ball sticks to his left foot and he just never stops running. One to watch.

Presuming you have an interest then in both Henderson and Doig. They should meet in the penultimate game of the season, though Doig has had injuries of late and his form has dipped so he may miss out. Verona's position is hanging by a thread.

I’ve been noticing both are on the bench alot, especially Doig, he’s a Lidl version of Aaron Hickey. Veronas last game is away to Milan. Id guess they are pretty much f’d.

Italian sides in all European finals for the first time since 1989-90. Mourinho looking for his second pot with Roma and Fiorentina will face West Ham. With AC Milan and Juventus defeated in other semi-finals, it’s hard not to think that the Italian sides benefited from not playing in the World Cup and having an extended break.

Palermo in Serie B were winning 2-0 at HT but conceded 2 goals in 2 minutes and then Reggina scored a winner at 90+4 to take Palermo out of the Serie A Play Offs on goal difference.

Disappointed but I think they’ll be more concerned with Troyes than Palermo. After all, Palermo had only just come up and a season of consolidation was to be expected. It’s been a solid if unspectacular season. They enjoyed a bit of success in late January early February, when they won 3 games on the spin, but they’ve only won 2 of the last 15, so mid-table is a fair reflection.

Next season will still be tough again, with Sampdoria and another couple of clubs coming down who are not bad. If Palermo can build on this year and get into the playoffs next year, however, that will be progress.

know that Samp are losing currently and going down but they haven’t shown anything that suggests they’ll be back soon. Such a shame.

Atalanta’s win today was good but I’m sure they’ll be frustrated as if they won the games that they honestly should, they’d be in the top 4. I say this but Lazio and the lot of them messed up in their winnable games.
