Serious question. Was that a better debut than Ali's?

Lets weigh up both debuts

Ali was at the end of his career, in division 1, yet that was something special

Aguero is 23, came on for half an hour yet scored two and assisted one, took the piss. People might say it was only vs Swansea, but that Swansea team did something other teams very rarely do these days and out possessed us in the first half.

I may be slightly nostaligic, but I still think Ali's debut was better

Thoughts?

reminded me of fabregas doing a cameo for arsenal where he came of bench scored a couple (maybe 3) and went off 20 mins later!

Real hard to compare...I´d rather compare it with the impact Rooney had with the rags tbh.

Yeah that was a helluva debut too. Only difference IIRC is that Rooney had the whole 90 minutes on the pitch and scored 3. Aguero had 30 minutes on the pitch, scored 2 (one of which is already a goal of the season contender) and probably the best assist we'll see all month at least. Can't really slide a piece of paper between them.

Good question.

I watched Ali's debut then went to watch City at Hillsboro where we won 6-2, and we all knew there and then that we had signed a special player who was going to transform our season. I have exactly the same feeling tonight. There's no watching and hoping that this player will come good - he is one of the best players in the world.
Every City fan who saw those games will never forget them. And tonight comes into the same category. I have been watching Edin Dzeko and many other new signings over recent months crossing my fingers and hoping that they will come good, but you just know real quality when you see it.

That 6-2 at Sheff Weds is the best away game I've ever been to. It was sunny, we had 6000 fans at Hillsborough, we sang literally all game, we won 6-2 and that magician Ali Benarbia was fucking superb. I'd have to say Ali's debut was better he played all game and was magic and I just didn't expect it. I didn't really know who he was.

But I don't think I was as excited about the future as I am right now as I think about what this new magician will do at the club. Plus it wasn't even a full debut so doesn't count yet. A hat trick at Bolton and I'll give you that!

This. Tonight I watched someone truly world class exceeding my highest hopes and expectations in The Shirt and know in my heart that we have seen only a tiny glimpse of what he will do for us. I'm still a bit in shock that this guy plays for City. Anything seems possible right now.

As an off shoot I seem to remember Paul Lake having a shocking debut and then making me eat every word over the following seasons (I said he'd never make it after his first display)

Which player started the worst and changed your initial opinion ???

No. Ali was awesome, IMO better than silva. I await the abuse....
It's all about opinion and although an ageing Benarbia stood out at the time with his deft passing and ball playing wizardryhe was at the twighlight of his career before his legs had gone. Silva is still young and on the up and he's the catalyst for most of our attack when he's playing. His foreward thinking and vision on the counter attack was wasted too much last season apart from Tevez being on his wavelength(now and again when Tevez was not being too greedy) This season Silva will only get better when other players pick up on his telepathy, particularly Aguero Dzeko and Yaya. Although he had an excellent debut season for us, i feel we only saw a fraction of David's skill and attributes. His only weakness last year was that he dithered in front of goal before tamely shooting and he was a touch too casual at times, but to be fair, he often had no option than to go it alone. With Aguero around and other players switching on to his way of thinking in being in the right place to recieve his defence splitting passes, i think that Silva will thrive further in more goals scored plus more assists, and i would not be surprised if Silva gets POS for us come next may.

I really don't think that some blues realise how good Silva is now, nevermind how good he will become.

Ali B's debut was better for me as well. He had only just stepped of the plane was thrown into the team didn't know the players and completely ran the show. Every time he got the ball he did something special. 1 of my all time greats loved the guy. Aguero well what can I say wow just wow I'm with the other posters I've never been as excited as this about supporting City it's just fantastic being a blue. There really is no limits to how far we can go 2/3 more quality players and we will be challenging Madrid & Barcelona for best squad in the world :) Happy days :)

Benarbia had got off a plane from France at 1pm and then played at 3pm looking like the best player in the world with a team he had had never played for or met before!!!!
