Server upgrade

Just to let you know the long awaited server upgrade is happening this weekend, so it may result in some downtime.

To keep disruption to a minimum I'm planning on keeping the two servers running concurrently whilst DNS settings update. This will mean less downtime, but the knock on effect is that there will effectively be two versions of the forum running (one on the existing server, and one on the new server). The two will be out of synch so please bear with us if any threads or posts of yours go missing over the weekend.

I'm hoping that this is going to solve the general SQL errors and slowness of the forum during busy times, but there's still a degree of trial and error so please be patient. Also hoping to get the new version of the site live in time for the server switchover, but it's a race against time with only today and tomorrow left to complete it.

Cheers for your patience,
Ric

Rik, if you change the A Record for the domain on the old server to the IP of the new server then it will point all traffic to the new server instantly (saves the DNS problem) - Sorry if you already knew this :)
