followed instructions yesterday and after connecting router to modem all lights that should be lit and green seem correct

I enter ip address etc and I get error when it tries to connect to internet error says problem with dsl/cable or internet connection

Internet works fine without router when just going through modem - don't want to start messing about with settings and end up with no internet at all

need this setup as got a 3 mobile signal booster box for my mobile

It's a d-link router, I am with Virgin broadband and running windows XP

any help greatly received

Sorry i meant router in my op.

have you gone into the router GUI, think its is 192.168.0.1 or something similar in your browser(it will be in the router paperwork/ booklet.

edit, can you not phone tech support or do you not have virgin phone?

been ages since i had fibre optic so i am a bit rusty.

I understood you meant router mate and appreciate your time

Not been in gui yet was trying to setup for few hours yesterday afternoon thought would be easy and stopped after few attempts as football was coming on

and you are not that rusty as that is correct address lol

lol, log into the router and go through the wizard. The password used to be Admin (cap A) and user name blank, this could of changed too.

Had a similar problem last xmas with a Belkin router and went though 2 days of hell and it still did not work.(This included changing the unit itself).
The virgin logo was on the router box so it should have worked.

In the end I sent it back and got the Virgin super hub.
Got it on a freemans and installed it myself (so it is idiot proof )

Shit hot

If VM supplied it, it should be compatible, call support (good luck...) it might be broke.

Being Fibre doesn't matter - it's (usually) only Fibre to the street, then coax to your set-top box(es) and modem (and then ethernet from modem to router or straight to PC if not using a router).
