We will finish 7th and that will seem like a great season after the start we had but in truth we probably won't get the number of points we had last season. With the investment we've had that is pathetic.

Judge them next season, re the investment. 45m spent in jan can't really turn around the very average 1st half of the season. He had spent about 50m pre season if you take away both Jo and tbh. Pretty much the same as sunderland and spurs.

^^^^
Who have both got shot of their manager.

So it's £100m+ and a full season before anyone forms an opinion on what a manager is doing?

Riiiight.

Adams, Ince, Scolari, Sammy Lee, Chris Hutchings, Alladyce and all the others better be informed then. They were given neither the money or the time. Their lawyers will obviously win them millions at tribunal once they cite this "we must have £100m+ and then another full season before we show anything like decent results" rule

Not you again...

Martin Oneill and David Moyes. Take note....

Just putting the counter argument to this unprecedented claim about a manger needing the biggest amount of csh ever seen in world football and a couple of season's before he produces acceptable results.

ps: do you really want to get into a 'I can name manager's who support my argument' competition.

You have got Moyes, O'Neil, Fergie and Wenger who were given time and have done excpetional jobs. I've got most of the other manager's in the history of the English game.

After the Elano threads, the safe money was always on this one being the first to descend into a Hughes Out pissing contest...;- )

Carry on chaps...

Anything better than 9th is an improvement getting into Europe would be a bonus!

That's bollocks. Anything better than 55 points is an improvement, that's the only real thing you can measure against IMO.

FFS Its Sven's cheerleader again! For your information to judge one year's points total against another is pointless unless you look at the strengths of the teams taking part compared to those the previous year. Position in the table is what matters not points total.

Haha, okay. Well "for your information" you're wrong mate, of course the best way to compare how a team is doing between seasons is comparing the total points. Using your argument comparing league positions would be equally pointless anyway.

If we win tomorrow we go 7th in the table!

Can we do it??

If we do, will we be able to stay there until the end of the season?

Do we have any chance of finishing higher than 7th, or is this the best we can hope for this term??

I personally am a bit worried about tomoorow because in the games that I think we are sure to win i.e. Stoke, WBA we go and fuck it up.

I think that 7th would be a decent result for this season - Arsenal, Villa and Everton are better teams than us still (not necessarily better players though)

Onwards and upwards from there into the top 4 next year!

What do you think?
